More From Marvel's Co-President On The Possibility Of A Female Led Superhero Movie

Sharing his thoughts on the strong female characters they've already introduced in "Phase One", Marvel co-president Louis D'Esposito looks ahead to the future, sharing his thoughts on the chances of any of them getting their own movies and again hinting that a Captain Marvel feature is in the works.

"Captain Marvel is a very strong female character that would be great to do. I love it," Marvel co-president and Agent Carter director Louis D'Esposito told IGN when asked which female superheroes he would most like to see given their own big screen outing. As for what most appeals to him about the character, he added: "She's great and it's always great when they're set in a man's world and they overcome the obstacles in their way and really shine." At this point, there's been far too much Captain Marvel talk for her not to have been discussed at Marvel Studios. Don't be surprised if she ends up starring in one of their 2016 or 2017 features! Anyway, if you can forgive the fact that the interviewer is under the impression that Spider-Man is a DC character, it's well worth checking it out in full above! Sound off with your thoughts below.

From the same people who say Black Panther can't work and yet Asgard can.

@LEVI

AGREED TO THE FULLEST MAN! And I don't want to hear all that "don't worry it'll be here soon guys" it's complete BS that they held that film off for so long. They better not get a crappy director for the film either.

They already have a script for Black Panther, will you relax. He will eventually get his own movie possibly in Phase 3.

Well, if they want a string female character such as Ms. Marvel, then they'd better get their asses on it. Plan out on how they want to adapt her and establish her in the MCU.

No, Louis is the only idiot from Marvel that said bringing Wakanda on the big screen would be difficult!

And yeah, don't call her "Captain" Marvel if you're going with this. It's either Ms. Marvel or even Warbird. Either of those two would work. Save the captain title for the true Captain Marvel.....

should start off with a ms.marvel movie & if it proves popular enough for a couple sequels the third movie should be her becoming captain marvel.

Perfect timing imo. xD lol Anyways, Marvel has a plan dude and I think it's best to leave it at that. We should really be concerned about WB/Dc coz those guys have no [frick]ing clue as to what they're doing at all.

@MAC who knows, maybe we can still get a ww movie if wb isn't too lazy, MAYBE
caroldanvers
caroldanvers - 9/6/2013, 5:58 PM
@MAC that too, i'm assuming marvel (as always) will take the lead, make captain marvel happen, and THEN wb will realize they were being idiots and try to make wonder woman happen. which ultimately i guess it's good because whatever, at least we get our movie, but it'll be a little too late in their silly little battle against marvel.

I guess I will address the elephant in the room. From a comic book fans perspective, Marvels plan sucks like a $2 Cambodian prostitute. Most of the Marvel studio movies have been good to the general audience, but have taken a big steaming pile of shyt on the source material that comic book fans love. Marvel does the opposite of what the fans want to see. Marvel is all about making money and not making the best quality film possible. As fans, since there is no realistic alternative CBM studio out there, we are forced to accept the garbage or wait a decade or two before the existing movies are rebooted.

Sorry too many blonde haired white guy super heroes out there in the MCU, let Mar-vel be in it but die and give the mantle over to Carol Danvers as the "new" Captain Marvel and let a female get the lead for once in the MCU.
caroldanvers
caroldanvers - 9/6/2013, 6:02 PM
@Blastaar EXACTLY. they need to have him so people will understand how carol got her superpowers, but he doesn't need to be a big important thing. hell, he can even be in it in flashbacks, with carol telling her story and talking fondly of him~ it would be a nice touch.

Riight!!! Black Panther would be hard to do, just doing wakanda would difficult task!!!

And I'm thinking umm oo okay

But when Marvel start doing Asgard and GotG, I'm like WTF!?!

Omarvls

I would care if I was a fan Ms Marvel but I'm not.

We've had Supergirl, Catwoman, & Elektra. So if Marvel Studios decidesto do a Ms Marvel film it changes everything?

Either way all I was is Hulk, Daredevil, and Black Panther.

At the end Mar-Vell sacrifices himself for her which is why she calls herself 'Captain Marvel' when she meets the Avengers, SHIELD or SWORD. Someone (Cap I'm thinking) responds and welcome her as 'Ms. Marvel'.

ah, we were doing so good until this. If you people are oh so worried that she's """""taking"""""" mar-vell's name (mind you, he's not the only captain marvel, but whatever we'll let that slip) just have him telling her to take over his mantle, then she can call herself after him because a) she admired him and b) he asked her to. it's stupid, and slightly misogynistic. but whatever.

I understand being upset cause WB are not putting out a Wonder Woman

But Hey, can't be mad at Marvel, they doing their thing!
