During a recent radio interview, Samuel L. Jackson talked about his excitement being a part of the popular Marvel film series. After revealing that Iron Man 2 was the 737th movie he has acted in, Jackson talked about what is coming next for his character, S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Nick Fury, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Here are a few notes from the show:

- He is two movies into his nine picture deal portraying Nick Fury for Marvel Studios.

- He will definitely be in Captain America: The First Avenger and Iron Man 3, but not in Thor.

- The Avengers movie should be filming next year and sometime after that there's a big S.H.I.E.L.D. movie planned.

He was fine. The writing, if anything, was what was at fault for Fury's un-bad-ass portrayal IMO. Hopefully he gets better material that lets him bring out a more bad-ass attitude that we all KNOW SLJ can do.

Shazam171 @ Okie dokie dude, be right there! : P

Oh and SLJ didn't even try to play NICK FURY people, in IRON MAN 2!

He took it for granted and didn't do any justice to the character, be it Ultimate or not, he was the biggest let down in the movie!

Hell NO to a SHIELD movie with him in!

@Lee - Exactly, SLJ didn't even try. Actually, he wasn't even in character through the whole movie, he was just... being SLJ.

Was anybody else surprised at the number of scenes SLJ was in? I was under the impression (sucked in to the hype) he was in a samll scene at the donut shop. though I have to say, he didn't come across as bad-a$$ as I would've figured.

S.H.I.E.L.D. will be great. Will undoubtedly also have Scarlett Johansson, Clark Gregg & Kevin Pennington.

I loved SLJ as Fury although he could have done with some more serious dialogue! ("I've got my eye on you") A S.H.I.E.L.D movie though? Hmmm...not sure if that would really a movie I'm desperate to see (make a Black Panther movie already Marvel) but it could be pretty cool! :)

It's hard to sound bad-ass when you're given lines like "Stark, I'm gonna have to ask you to exit the donut!" You are high off your ass if you think that bad writing is an "old excuse".

BryEL @ Exactly dude, exactly!!!

737th movie says it all about SLJ lol!

Nah that can't be right??? OMG lol.

SLJ just plays SLJ, apart from a handful of movies he makes crap!

Damn shame! : P

Even IF they kept with the ULTI FURY it should have been FISHBURN or WASHINGTON!!!

Theres a reason SLJ isn't in THOR and my guess is KEN didn't want him!!

hell yeah a shield film with black widow, hawk eyes, agent coldrun or whatever his name is,and giantman, and wasp. maybe ultron, winter soldier, and some other baddies will be in it so the captain america can be in it as well. but like i say leader, abomination should be the villains for the avengers film, and maybe even ultron, absorbing man,and winter soldier can be in that too, then the skrull invasion for the sequel.

S.H.I.E.L.D. movie? Hydra maybe? They should introduce Baron Strucker in the Cap movie.

If they do that, they should get Sternako to do design work for the flick

I think that people (that means you LEE, lol!) need to give SLJ a chance with his role in The First Avenger before they judge him only on his Iron Man 2 performance!

The problem was that, like Black Widow, he wasnt written as well as he could have been! However in a 2 hour film, Jackson had a very small role and I was personally impressed by what I saw!

Give us a little more of this...

But of course, since we liked SLJ, that means that we just sit back and accept everything thrown our way. God knows Lee has reminded us of that enough times already on top of his high horse.

SLJ (as SLJ) is tolerably in these films cause people don't have to see much of him. unbearable - Scarlett Johansson's unimpressive fight scene. big red wig flying all over the place. LOL great eye candy, unbelievable bad ass. Hit Girl for black widow.

BryEL - 5/11/2010, 4:02 PM
The first time we got SLJ, we freakin'loved it. Now... I don't know, both Fury and Widow were written poorly in the flick... BUT I have full faith that he'll kick ass in the future.

Nick Fury is based on Samuel L. Jackson so Laurence Fishburne and Denzel Washington is out of the question.

I think he was awesome as Nick Fury, he didn't really have much to work with though. Anyway stop bitching about him because he is Nick Fury now END OF...a S.H.I.E.L.D movie would be awesome, but only if it has Nick Fury: Agent of...

anyone can play Nick Fury. anyone, white or black. Fishburne's Morpheus is more Fury than what was seen in IM2

There are always going to be two camps on the Nick Fury issue -- People who love the classic 616 Nick Fury, and people who love the SLJ-clone Ultimates Nick Fury.

I definitely fall into the former camp and to be quite honest, Ultimate Fury is one of the biggest turn-offs about these movies for me, but what's done is done and it's not enough to make me rant about it over and over and over and over ad nauseum in every thread like someone else on this site. (Seriously LEEE, get a grip and rein in a little.)

His appearance in these movies is going to leave a bad taste in many people's mouths, whether he does well or not. Keeping that in mind, I didn't have an issue with his performance, possibly because I had such low expectations for it to begin with.
