Julia Roberts Will Produce & Star In A BATKID BEGINS Movie

Apparently Roberts (August Osage County) has bought the rights to turn the amazing story of Miles Scott (who is already the subject of the Batkid Begins: The Wish Heard Around The World documentary) into a feature film, and wants to star in and produce it too. Click on for more details...

Batkid Begins: The Wish Heard Around The World premièred today at the Slamdance Film festival, but it looks like we'll be getting another movie telling the story of Miles Scott's awesome Make-A-Wish Foundation-sponsored day as Batkid from Julia Roberts, who according to Deadline has closed a deal to produce and star in a feature adaptation. On November 15, 2013, 5-year-old leukemia patient Miles Scott got his wish to be the Caped Crusader granted when thousands of volunteers helped turn San Francisco into Gotham City for a day. It's a story that touched us all, and saw 25,000 San Fran supporters as well as many more on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, tracking Miles' exploits across the city through a series of staged missions. Which role Roberts will play is unknown (Miles' mother perhaps?), but the Batkid documentary's director Dana Nachman will executive produce along Submarine’s Josh Braun and Dan Braun. What do you guys think?

Julia Roberts is a terrible choice to play the Batkid.

Great story. Only bad thing is that the producers for the Oscar's that year screwed him over when they cancelled his skit with Andrew Garfield. But Garfield took him to Disneyland the next day, so I guess it worked out then. But seriously, fùck the Oscar's.

Also, the average spent on a "wish" by the Make-A-Wish foundation is $7,500 but Batkid's "wish" cost over $100,000. Many, many people are upset that that money could've been better spent. Just sayin'.

All that money all that coverage and thousands of children suffering out there.

Did you guys know that Make a Wish foundation usually uses around 7.5K a kid, but for Batkid it was over 100K, he was gonna be in the Oscars and now there's a movie being produced about him.
I wish my little brother had all this attention, but that's life you either get everything or nothing.

Its disgusting that Batkid is still so popular. I get the make a wish foundation occasionally treating someone, but this kid got so much that he's become more of a celebrity than just someone who got to have a day being fullfilling his wish. The long term mental effects on this kid are going to be terrible, caused from the excessive young age fame.

Worst of all is that so much focus has been put onto this kid that it'll make any future 'make-a-wish' situations seem inferior. How do you top turning a kid into a celebrity, allowing him to be a Superhero sidekick on multiple occasions, have thousands of people cheering and clapping for him and giving him days out with celebrities such as Andrew Garfield.

Sure the fact lots of people voluntereed to lend their support is touching, but that should have been the focus and it should have passed by now. Let the wish fade otherwise it'll become something the kid lives with, the constant media focus is not something he should have to deal with ¬.¬

The sad part is that this will probably be a better movie than half of the other Batman films.

@G3n3r4lzZoD9

Does Batkid's exposure and story not benefit donations and awareness for other kids??

I just assumed what was done for him and the news it made, improved donations across the country much like the "Ice Bucket Challenge" did for ALS. If I'm wrong in assuming that, please correct me.

I loved Batkid. But make no mistake, Julia Roberts and her big ass ego will find some way to ruin this.

Yeah I am not sure how I feel about this. I do not want me or anyone to take the joy the child got from this but it just seems unfair.

We have so many children suffering across this nation alone, living in poverty, being abused, or other children dying that get no attention whatsoever.

I do think it was great that city banded together to help this kid out but for some reason you never see any ethic kids get the same attention.

Just like the national news...... you always see news coverage for missing white mothers or children. Yet Black and Hispanic women and children go missing all the time with no news coverage.

She has no more career and needs something. It's a shame to exploit for money. Then maybe she will not thank the actual star if she wins anything... Like she did in Erin Brockovich.
