Editorial: 4 Marvel Movies …………………………1 Winner

2014 brings us 4 different comic book movies. We have The Amazing Spiderman 2, Guardians of The Galaxy, X-men: Days of Future Past, and Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier. I’m excited for all of these movies for different reasons. Each movie is going to open doors for new things to come in their respective universes.
The movie I’m most excited for is Captain America 2. It’s looking like it will be an awesome film filled with intense moments and huge action. The Falcon looks like a serious ally for Cap. I’m mainly interested in this movie to see how it leads into Avengers 2. I want to see where SHIELD stands with the Avengers in the after math. Also, the Winter Soldier as an adversary looks very bad ass. That shield catch at the end of the trailer was intense.
The next movie is The Amazing Spiderman 2. I thought the first one was ok. When I first saw it I liked it but as time went on I completely forgot about it. This new one has me concerned mainly because of Jamie Foxx. The movie looks like it’s going to be a fun ride, but I am concerned about Jamie Foxx as the villain. His portrayal as Electro just looks ridiculous to me and kind of corny. Hopefully I’m proven wrong when I see the actual film. I’m curious as to how they are going to develop the world in this movie. They introducing a lot of characters in it I just hope it’s balanced. The first two Spiderman movies were great so I hope the reboot follows suit.
X-men: Days of Future Past is the biggest movie in terms of story out all four movies. It is also the second most expensive movie that 20th century Fox has ever made behind Avatar. This movie has great potential. The story line and cast are huge. As much as I want to see this I have serious concerns about this movie. I’m worried about the balance of the characters. Last Stand was a pretty big film, but it definitely didn’t feel balanced. It felt like a bunch of random characters fighting just for the story’s sake. X-men movies have a knack for just putting in random characters with no actual development. In all honesty if anyone were to die in this movie I wouldn’t necessarily care. I don’t have faith in Bryan Singer at all. Yea x men 1 and 2 were good, but it felt like I was watching “Wolverine and The Homies”. Hopefully I’m proven wrong with this movie, because I will be highly disappointed if it’s just a good film. With a story line this big the movie has to be great nothing less. I want to actually see an X-men movie surpass 500 million dollars for once.
The last film is Guardians of the Galaxy. This movie looks interesting. I like the whole space setting. It kind of reminds of Star Wars. If done right this could be cool new live action super hero movie franchise. The connection to Avengers 2 is going to be interesting to see because this is a new group of heroes that have yet to be explored. I don’t know what to expect from this movie, but I have a good feeling about it.

Overall next summer seems like it’s going to be exciting. All four of these films have great potential, but once again only one will win. I’m going to say that Captain America 2 will come out on top. Let me know what your thoughts are………

I'm most looking forward to Days of Future Past, but the real winners are THE FANS!!! We're getting all these great CBMs in the coming years, it's a good time to be a CBM fan right now.

I have no hope for X-Men. I really hope its great, but there hasn't been a good X-Men movie since X2.

Cap 2 and Guardians of the Galaxy are the two I'm most excited for.

And I agree, Jamie Fox looks ridiculous as Electro. I really don't carw for what they are doing with him in Spidey 2.

X-Men: Days of Future Past > The Amazing Spider-Man 2 > 300: Rise of an Empire > Captain America: Winter Soldier > Rewatching Iron Man 3 > rewatching X-Men Origins: Wolverine > Guardians of the Galaxy...

;)

Tie between Guardians of the Galaxy and Cap 2. Guardians because I like that they're going in a pretty different direction with new characters (cinematically at least) and I think the team behind it will pull it off. Cap 2 because if it's anything like the comic, the story will be amazing amazing and it looks like it could very well be the best MCU movie so far.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier will be movie of the year, hands down! Looking forward to the others without a doubt, but Cap wins the year!

I'm with bazinga85, 2014's a good year to be a fan.

I think the Winter Soldier will probably knock it out of the park, but we haven't even seen trailers from GotG or tASM2. Blurry comic-con footage doesn't count - there really wasn't enough to set the tone.

Days of Future Past looks interesting. It's kind of odd for me, because I'm such a huge X-fan of the comics, I have to really separate that from the movies. It worked with First Class - I really enjoyed it, ALMOST as much as X2, but the storyline is so iconic, and there's such obvious deviations. I want to love it, but it's going to take a lot of doing.

Xmen dofp, then guardians, cap 2 and spiderman 2. Spiderman is my favorite character ever, but I did not care for TASM at all. I hope the sequel is an improvement but I won't get my hopes up

I'm excited for all but I'm a team guy, so it's between dofp and gotg. Cap and spidey are still in there but the team movies have a leg up just for casting alone. Those are two of the most talented and the most diverse cast that I have seen put together in a while.

"I am concerned about Jamie Foxx as the villain. His portrayal as Electro just looks ridiculous to me and kind of corny"

So your just gonna forget about Ray, Miami Vice, The Kingdom, The Soloist, Collateral, Law Abiding Citizen, Django Unchained, all the great serious performances that he's given from 1994 - Present?

Anyway, I'm anticipating all of the CBMs next year to one degree or another, although the Captain America trailer kinda gave me a 'G.I. Joe' vibe that made me worried about the film, but I'll wait and see how it turns out.

Cap 2 and GOTG are tied for number 1 for me. ASM 2....we'll see, hopefully I won't have to settle for average like the last one. DOFP COULD be good but I'm worried the same as you.
