What's next for Frank Miller? Who cares? Well I do!

Frank Miller and Dave Gibbons have recently been working in the movie business. Frank Miller co-directed Sin City and Dave Gibbons has been working with the crew on the Watchmen movie. Now they may be teaming up to adapt 'Martha Washington' into a feature film. The series was written by Miller with art by Dave Gibbons. The series won the 1990 Eisner Award for best series.

"Give me Liberty (1990 onward) was a series of Graphic Novels By Frank Miller and Dave Gibbons and published by Dark Horse Comics. It followed the futuristic adventure of Martha Washington (a bright kid born in the gettho of Cabrini Green) who join PAX, a militant version of the Peace Corps. Late in the series, the strain of a series of constitutional amendements (the 94th one is mentioned) and assassination of the President (and subsequent declaration of martial law) leads to the splintering off of the United States. Needless to say, the series is quite violent but is done with a cheeky sort of dark humour as can be seen in the country's description." -http://flagspot.net/flags/fic_gml.html>

Dave Gibbons said to DigitalSpy.co.uk, “There was a series I did with Frank Miller called ‘Martha Washington,’ which in fact is longer than ‘Watchmen,’ it’s about 500 pages. Frank’s enjoying a certain amount of success in Hollywood and I wouldn’t be surprised if something happens with that. I think that would make a great movie.” -http://frank-miller-news.newslib.com/story/4147-3098603/

Frank Miller has said, “Martha Washington. It’s just a matter of finding the right venue, because ‘Martha Washington’ isn’t a movie, it’s a series. It would have to be like 12 episodes to fit the whole story in. I would not let it be truncated.” -http://frank-miller-news.newslib.com/story/4147-3098603/

Eh. Miller is rapidly becoming that girl who had a round of applause on karaoke night and then decided she was going to become a singer.

Martha is a 16 year old in the first sets of comics so keep that in mind! I spoke to Dave Gibbons a week ago at the Kapow! comic convention and asked him... "Are you ever going to do a Martha Washington movie?" He said "It would be a lot of fun!" yet it didn't sound like it would be happening too soon, if ever. I said to him "You should do a One-Off!" Doh! That's the stupidest thinking ever. Dave, if you ever read this - I take it back. It would be fantastic if they could make as many Martha Washington movies as they could, imagine that story telling not being compromised, with a Transformers budget!
Finding the right Martha would be key
