2014, 2015, and 2016 are shaping up to be some of the biggest years in comic book movie history. In 2014 we have X-men Days of Future Past, Captain America 2, Guardians of the Galaxy, and The Amazing Spiderman 2. 2015 we have the reboot of Fantastic Four, Avengers 2, and Ant-man. 2016 we Batman/Superman, X-men Apocalypse, The Amazing Spiderman 3, and other unconfirmed movies.

Originally 2015 was looking to be my most anticipated year out of the 3 but things have changed drastically. The Batman/Superman’s delay has made 2015 look dismal. The competition that DC and Marvel would have had in 2015 would have been exciting to see. I’m excited to see Avengers 2 in 2015 and that’s pretty much it. I don’t know what to expect from Fantastic Four and Ant-man at all. 2016 is looking like the biggest year overall. We have Twentieth Century Fox, Sony, Warner Brothers, and Marvel all releasing high profile movies that summer. X-men Apocalypse is possibly going to be the biggest X-men movie ever. Apocalypse is the biggest villain in that universe. Marvel is releasing a secret project that year so things are going to be hectic. DC was supposed to release the Flash in 2016, but the Batman/Superman delay may change things.

My main concerns right now are Days of Future Past and the new Spiderman. I don’t have any faith in Bryan Singer whatsoever, but I am curious about the final product of this new movie. I really want Days of Future Past to be great, but I just have a bad feeling. The storyline is huge and I want all the characters to have a natural balance. The removal of rogue hasn’t helped. I’m waiting for the new trailer to show me what the movie truly has to offer so ill give it the benefit of the doubt. Spiderman 2 looks like we’ve been there and done that. Nothing about Electro screams menacing in fact all three of the villains just seem out of place to be honest. The action definitely looks improved, but overall the movie just looks dull and unnecessary. I can’t imagine how they will make The Amazing Spiderman 3 bigger than 2 and then of course we have the sinister six movie.

One thing that DC has done is move their release date to another marvel film release date. I would really love it if they both kept the same dates so fans can so two comic book movies in one day. The only movie that I can think of that could compete with Batman/Superman would have to be a Hulk/Ironman team up film. Batman/Superman has the potential to be huge so Marvel would have to release something big.

Overall, I’m excited to see what these studios have in store for us. For me 2014 is going to be a hit or miss. 2015 and 2016 are going to be huge years. My top films right now are Cap 2, Avengers 2, maybe the new X-men, Batman/Superman, and possibly Guardians.

The Flash movie for 2016 was never confirmed. Hollywood Reporter put up a story about WB announcing Flash in 2016 & Justice League in 2017 at Comic-Con, but the announcement never happened. With the Flash TV show being announced, I doubt there are any current plans for a Flash solo movie too.

May 2016: Batman vs Superman, Marvel Studios movie, X-Men Apocalpyse
June 2016: The Amazing Spider-Man 3
July 2017: Marvel Studios movie

Good lord.

Also, looking at this now, I imagine that Batman vs Superman is gonna destroy at the box office. The first big blockbuster of the Summer often does the best, and May 6 is the sweet spot (why else did Marvel pick it).

I just wonder what movie Marvel has planned for there? Thor 3? If so, maybe they should delay it to November like they did with Thor 2, which did quite well.

Good for Marvel.......bad for DC.

ALmight summed it up.

It's not the golden age of CBMs because you're reasoning is because of quantity. It's a good time for marvel, not DC because out of all those films, only one is DC.
