Don't take it out on Ray Stevens!

Having been a fan of the Punisher Max comics and the Tom Jane version I was curious to see how the movie would be with out Tom Jane. Suprisingly I did not miss Tom Jane as Frank Castle...

Ray Stevens captured his motions, his look and his emotions like I was reading it out of the comic. However the script could have been much better. I only hope that some day a better set of directors and writers will work on another one, starring Ray Stevens or Tom Jane.

I've read some of the comics and I thought they were right on point for the most part with this movie much more so than the 04 version I figured if your into what the Punisher is in the comics you'd be into this movie

The movie would have sucked greatly if it wasn't for Stevenson. He for once made the punisher what the punisher truly is. Everyone else in the movie can jump off a bridge and die. Seriously the cop? the black guy? DID ANYONE SEE RESIDENT EVIL???? He was bad in that and he was bad in this. The only good part in Resident Evil he was in is when he was sliced into a million pieces

Never really got into the comics, but i thought the '04 version was pretty good. When half the contributors to this site are telling people not to see this new one, that's a bad sign. That's why i never went to see it myself. I know i'll probably be 'punished' for this, but i never understood the appeal in the character in the first place. His family is killed (like 99% of all super heroes)and he vows to punish the corrupt (like 99% of all super heroes) so he gets a bunch of guns and other weapons and wages a one man war on crime... big deal. H.Wood shites out dozens of movies every year with the exact same premise and they don't get turned into franchises. Why should this? Punisher is just a guy with a bunch of guns- he isn't nearly as deep of a character as Batman, Wolverine, Spiderman or many of the other supers that have their own movies now. 'Death Sentence' had basically the same plot, no sequels, and no gimmicky bad guys- but the characters were much more compelling and the movie as a whole was much better than any punisher movie ever will be.

tom jane was good as the emotionally scarred punisher
Ray Stevenson was good as the stone-cold killer punisher
personally i like each movie as they are. the only thing i hate about both movies were the villains, travolta and jigsaw. travolta said every line like he was thinking in his head "aw this movie is boring, i am so bored, BORED!!!" jigsaw however was the exact opposite, jigsaw was too flamboyent to the point of almost being just plain goofy, like a less-gay jim carrey as riddler, minus the spandex and the "(gasp!) spank me!" never the less i think both movies should be appreciated for what they were: see tom jane if you want an emotionally scarred and vengeful punisher. see ray stevenson if you want a stone cold emotionless "Im gonna make your death as gory and as merciless as i possibly can" kind of punisher, both of which have been portrayed in the comic books at one time or another.
