In another MTV interview, Lorenzo di Bonaventura - producer of last year's hit action flick RED - talks more about the upcoming sequel. He confirms that they now have a script for the film, and says that we can see a mix of old and new characters. He also talks about working with all the talent in the first film.

On the script for the sequel...

We're trying to put it together. We just got a script and it's really good. We're all just now discussing how to put it all back together again.

On working with a lot of talent in the first RED film...
You know, it's so much fun to work with that much talent. It's amazing how much people love that movie. It's caught us all off guard a little bit. We're all very proud of it, but it's over the top how much people love it. We want to go back and play with those characters, because it was so much fun to do it.

On bringing in new characters as well as keeping the old...
I think the audience would be disappointed if we didn't bring back the crew, but we've got to freshen the crew. We'll bring in one or two characters that'll play a really big part — maybe three, but definitely one or two.
You know, Marvin and Frank and Sarah, you want to spend more time with those guys. Sometimes there's a tendency to want to do too much of a good thing so you don't really service anything, so we're really trying to stay focused on our core crew with one or two new additions.

I liked RED, but Marvel72 has a point, I don't think it really warranted a sequel. Plus, what could you do in a sequel? They beat the FBI, there's nothing else they could do.

Hey, if the characters are compelling then there's no reason not to do a sequel. The whole point of the first one is that they couldn't really retire... even if the government had let them. It makes as much sense as doing another Bond film, or Mission Impossible.

Besides, it's the only non-Batman DC property to earn a sequel in decades. And as noted in a prior talkback, it's telling that WB had no role in making it.

I liked the movie. It was one movie that was really able to entertain me for the first time in like a year.

I would watch a sequel.

Loved the first film. It was just a whole lot of fun, with a great cast of memorable characters. I would be open to a sequel if the story is strong enough, and they can bring back the original actors as needed.
