Lionsgate’s Chaos Walking movie will reportedly undergo major reshoots later this year that may delay the adaptation’s early 2019 release date.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Doug Liman's upcoming adaptation of Patrick Ness’ YA trilogy (which follows the first novel, The Knife of Never Letting Go) will head back into production for two to three weeks of additional photography later this year to early next year, possibly December to January. The reshoots being scheduled so long after principal photography wrapped likely has to do with the stars’ busy schedules.

The film tapped two up-and-coming actors who have since become well-known stars thanks to their respective franchises: Tom Holland, who plays Spider-Man in Marvel Studios’ superhero cinematic universe, and Daisy Ridley, who portrays Rey in Lucasfilm’s latest Star Wars trilogy - As well as Mads Mikkelsen whose on-board to play the film's villain. Holland is due to shoot the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming while Ridley will be at work on Star Wars: Episode IX, both of which take up the summer months.

The stars filmed Chaos Walking in the latter half of 2017, wrapping in November 2017, but evidently now the actors will be heading back for reshoots later this year. And it is due to the reported reshoots supposedly taking place around December or January the planned early March release date may be affected in some way, landing the film a later than expected 2019 release date.

@Repian - I was always a fan of the whole Kitty and Peter thing the ultimate universe did for awhile. It allowed more crossover between the X-Men and Spider-Man which I always thought was pretty cool. I don't see Daisy being a good Kitty though, I mean I think she could definitely pull it off but she isn't my first choice. I always thought Hailee Steinfeld would be perfect.

Another book I should read before the film releases but no doubt won’t get the chance too.

And are they still going ahead with Tom Holland as a young Nathan Drake?

Not surprised, guy likes to film without a script and often throws out what is on the page anyway. If you watch the bts stuff for Looper and Edge of Tomorrow you can even see him say he prefers to make stuff up on the day, and sometimes it leads to this sort of thing unfortunately. Not how I would do things but hey :/

@Ha1frican - Doug Liman didn't direct Looper...
