Multiple sources reported yesterday that Doug Liman's upcoming adaptation of Patrick Ness' best-selling dystopian young adult novel Chaos Walking has landed a March 1, 2019 release date.

Lionsgate tapped rising stars Tom Holland (Spider-Man: Homecoming) and Daisy Ridley (Star Wars: The Last Jedi) to headline the feature, which takes place in a world where all women have been killed off by a mysterious germ and all living creatures can hear one another's thoughts in a stream of images, words, and sounds, which is referred to as "Noise." Holland will portray a young boy that is forced to flee his hometown with his dog and stumbles across an unexpected sight in his travels: a girl, played by Ridley.

Academy Award-winner Charlie Kaufman (Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind) penned the script while Jamie Linden (Money Monster) completed the most recent draft.

Looking ahead to the 2019 release calendar, Chaos Walking will open against Universal's How to Train Your Dragon 3 and will likely face heavy competition from an Untitled X-Men Film and Universal's Bride of Frankenstein, which both open two weeks prior on February 15 and Marvel's Captain Marvel, which opens the week after on March 8. An untitled Jordan Peele film and Legendary's Godzilla: King of the Monsters are also both due out later that month.

So are we taking bets on how long it will take Liman to exit the project?

I'm really excited about this movie, but why did you walk out on Justice League Dark, Doug. Why… I've been crying myself to sleep ever since.

Tough competition that summer. But those release dates are going to shuffle multiple times anyway.

A flip of Y: The Last Man and similar media. Sounds interesting. I never finished Y, but I enjoyed the initial issues that I read. Never read far enough to figure out what killed off all the men.

I'd rather this than Justice League Dark. At the moment original ideas are more important in Hollywood. Until they stop making superhero movies that are all the same (Logan was a step in the right direction) I'm kind of sick of them for now. All of em. Spiderman Homecoming was the straw that broke the camel's back for me. Got hyped as this fresh unique high school movie, and ended up like an episode of Agents of Shield and a jumbo collection of MCu easter eggs. Generic as they come. This sounds like an interesting idea though. Plus Tom Holland and Daisy Ridley are both fantastic. I love their perky, upbeat positive vibes.

I hope the sudden stardom doesn't ruin these promising young stars.

@MasterMix - I think they're old enough where they should keep their head stable. The Stranger Things kids on the other hand...

@KWilly - Most definitely. 10 years later, I hope those kids have promising futures.
