Warner Bros. has released a new theatrical poster for Denis Villeneuve's highly-anticipated adaptation of Frank Herbert's Dune, which is set to hit theaters and the HBO Max streaming service this October.

Like the tie-in book cover we shared earlier today, this one-sheet gathers most of the main characters together, giving us new looks at Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides, Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica, Zendaya as Chani, Jason Momoa as Duncan Idaho, Josh Brolin as Gurney Halleck, Oscar Isaac as Duke Leto Atreides, Javier Bardem as Stilgar, and Sharon Duncan Brewster as Dr. Liet Kynes.

Several critics got to see the first 10 minutes of Dune as part of a recent IMAX preview, and the reactions were overwhelmingly positive. We'll just have to hope the movie performs well enough at the box office for the studio to green-light Part 2.

We found out that the sci-fi adaptation had been pushed back from October 1 to October 22 last month. This poster confirms that movie is still set to debut simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max, and we recently got word that it will have its out-of-competition world premiere on Friday, September 3 at the Toronto International Film Festival.

For those unfamiliar with the source material, Dune follows the Atreides family as they relocate to the desolate planet of Arrakis to assume control of the production of the most valuable resource in the galaxy, the Spice Melange. Unfortunately, an act of treachery soon makes an outcast of The Duke Atreides' youngest son Paul, and he must accept his destiny as a powerful prophet of the Arrakis natives known as The Fremen.

Im just picturing Villeneuve cursing aloud everytime he sees that's HBOmax logo attached to his work....

Man I hope it does well so we get part 2.

I'm not optimistic though... we won't be returning to big box office breaks until Avatar 2 comes around next year.

@Jaykay21 - That HBO Max logo is leprosy. It tells a lot of viewers, "don't bother, you can watch a bootleg version for free."

@Jaykay21 - I can't believe I'm saying this but James Cameron may in fact save cinemas with an event film like Avatar 2 getting people to go back next year. I don't see much else doing it at this point.

@GeneralZod - Haha, that's one way to look at it. They would at least make more money if they had it available outside the US, like D+.

I understand though that WB needed the business to keep flowing, even at a loss to still be viable, but they really should have had a few weeks exclusively for theaters with their releases. even if only for 3 weeks.

I'm sure there's going to be a massive change behind the scenes for their teams when 2022 hits and everyone gets their bonuses, but the talent had abandoned them.

@ElricReturns - Yeah, there will be a couple things before that like Dr Strange 2, Spiderman no way home (as I see that being delayed by Sony), but not getting big number Like Avatar.

Cameron is probably going to push the whole 3D thing again, that will get more people out with their families. that or 3D tv's are going to be a thing again. haha

I saw the first one in IMAX 3D. hands down the best and probably only movie I'll recommend to watch that way.

I absolutely hate that this is going to flop.

@Vanillain - I feel you. though I think they should re evaluate what a flop is in these times when these studios are setting themselves up to fail with streaming releasing for movies this big.

I'm hoping the saving grace from this epic is going to be that it gets some Oscar buzz. it needs all the wins it can get to secure us part 2

Make it cinema exclusive, you cowards! Does WB enjoy losing money?

It's not too late for them to put a premium price tag on home viewing. It'll motivate some to actually see it in the theater, people like me will pay the convenience free and it can actually recoup some of that $$$ so maybe we get a second one..

Even though the trailer is awesome....I predict this film will bomb hard. Bad timing.

To bad its going to flop cause of WB and their HBO Max. If it does, Villeneuve and Legendary should probably sue them hard.
