It's been rumored over the past few months that Universal's hotly anticipated Jurassic World sequel would feature more ties to the original Jurassic Park than its predecessor and the recent addition of original cast member Jeff Goldblum (Thor: Ragnarok) seemingly confirmed that fact. However, as it turns out, that's not the only connection we'll be treated to when summer 2018 rolls around as according to Academy Award-nominee James Cromwell (24), his character will have a very significant relationship to a character from the 1993 classic.

During an interview with Larry King NOW, Cromwell revealed that he'll be portraying a character named Benjamin Lockwood, who, as it turns out, is the business partner of John Hammond. “The character Richard Attenborough played, I’m his partner Benjamin Lockwood. We developed the technology of being able to clone the genes, and so I’m trying to deal with the blow back from what we have done.” It's yet-to-be-seen why Lockwood has decided to resurface now, after being in the dark for the last twenty-five years or so since the initial Isla Nublar incident, but it should make for one interesting reveal. Also, judging by those comments, it seems likely he'll side with Chris Pratt & Bryce Dallas Howard in this prehistoric adventure over his former employee, played by B.D. Wong.

Additionally, in a separate interview with Screen Rant, when asked if he was at liberty to divulge anything about the sequel, Pratt took the opportunity to heap praise on his new director while also teasing the film's darker tone. "Aw man, J.A. Bayona? Do you know that filmmaker? He’s a remarkable filmmaker. If you haven’t seen The Impossible or A Monster Calls, I mean he’s really visually masterful. Deep emotions and suspense. I think it’s going to be a scarier version. A little bit darker and will continue to expand and carry the story forward in a way that is really unexpected and you wouldn’t have imagined."

So, what do you guys think? Sound off with your thoughts below!
