JURASSIC WORLD: DOMINION Is Not The End Of The Franchise, It's "The Start Of A New Era"

While there was a fourteen-year gap between Jurassic Park III and Jurassic World, it doesn't sound like fans will have to wait quite as long for a follow-up to the upcoming Jurassic World: Dominion.

After Joe Johnston's Jurassic Park III opened in 2001, we didn't see another Jurassic film for fourteen long years, and while Colin Trevorrow's highly anticipated Jurassic World: Dominion, which is due out next summer, will serve as a trilogy capper, it doesn't sound like the wait for a follow-up will be anywhere near as long.

Speaking with Collider, 5x Academy Award-nominated producer Frank Marshall revealed that the upcoming Jurassic World: Dominion is not being developed as a potential finale to the blockbuster Jurassic franchise, but rather as a new beginning.

"It's the start of a new era," he says, before adding, "The dinosaurs are now on the mainland amongst us, and they will be for quite some time, I hope.

While he wouldn't go into any details, Marshall did hint at more films set in this dangerous new universe where humans must learn how to live - and survive - alongside wild dinosaurs.

The star-studded cast of Jurassic World: Dominion will feature several Jurassic alums, including Chris Pratt (Owen Grady), Bryce Dallas Howard (Claire Dearing), 3x Golden Globe-nominee Sam Neill (Alan Grant), Academy Award-winner Laura Dern (Ellie Sattler), Academy Award-nominee Jeff Goldblum (Ian Malcolm), Jake Johnson (Lowery Cruthers), Omar Sy (Barry Sembane), Justice Smith (Franklin Webb), Daniella Pineda (Zia Rodriguez), and Isabella Sermon (Maisie Lockwood).

Newcomers to the franchise include Mamoudou Athie (Sorry for Your Loss), DeWanda Wise (She's Gotta Have It), Dichen Lachman (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) and Scott Haze (Venom). Details on their roles are currently being kept under wraps.

For now, Jurassic World: Dominion is still slated to roar into theaters on June 11, 2021, but depending on when production is able to safely resume, there is a strong possibility it will be among many 2021 blockbusters to have their release dates shifted to later in the year or into 2022.

Look, Jurassic Park, you've been teasing a Dino-Riders-esque sci-fi bio-dystopia for a while now, and you've got one last chance.

Also... you have as many chances as you need, because I'm a sucker for dinosaurs. Just please take the bio-tech capabilities demonstrated in the franchise and do something goddamn creative with it. And no, one little clone girl and 'what if a raptor was slightly bigger' is not creative.

I’m 100% here for planet of the Dinos. The last film wasn’t great but I’ll take it if they go full insane with it

The estate of Michael Crichton must be getting a huge royalty check for them to keep quiet about the way they have destroyed his work. The quality just keeps going down and down.

Fallen Kingdom really was a big turn around in the franchise. And not one I'm particulary interested in. On the other hand though, there isn't really much else you can do with this IP
