EXCLUSIVE: STAR WARS REBELS' Vanessa Marshall On Hera's Role In ROGUE ONE And Playing The Hero In Live-Action

Star Wars Rebels enters its final season this fall and the season three DVD and Blu-ray goes on sale this Tuesday. To celebrate its release, we recently caught up with actress Vanessa Marshall to talk about the show and what's to come for Hera moving forward. We'll bring you the full interview soon but in the meantime, here's an excerpt in which she addresses Hera's cameo in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

It was in that movie that Hera showed up (well, sort of) when an announcement went out in the Rebel base asking for her. Chopper could also be seen as could The Ghost, the ship belonging to Hera and the cast of the popular Disney series. Here's what Vanessa had to say about finding out about the scene.

"Fantastic, I almost started crying. I had to remember I was in a public place and had to contain myself. I thought I was losing my mind and started asking, 'Did that really just happen?' I went to see it a million times and every time, I was just blown away. It's good to know that she still exists at that point, so that's a good thing, but also being such a huge fan of every Star Wars film that's been released, having a character I've played in an animated series be mentioned...it was really rewarding."

As for whether or not she'd like to play Hera in live-action somewhere down the line, the actress was obviously enthusiastic about the prospect but ultimately wants what is best for the beloved character.

"Of course! Who knows, if she can serve the narrative, it would be awesome. It would be great to see her on film and it was incredible to see Saw Gerrera come to life. I loved Saw in the Onderon arcs in The Clone Wars and was so thrilled they took a character from the animated series and transitioned him into live-action to play such a pivotal role. If they did that with Hera, that would be magnificent but it's all about what serves the narrative and not necessarily just let's give Hera a cameo. I bow down to the overall journey at hand and I really can't wait for the movie to come out in December and I'm so excited. That's really what's keeping me going [Laughs]."

We'll just have to wait and see what happens with Hera in Star Wars Rebels but more of our chat with Vanessa will be online soon, especially with the DVD and Blu-ray release of the series now just a few days away. For now, be sure to let us know your thoughts on these comments in the usual place.
