SOLO Star Emilia Clarke On Why Qi'Ra's Return In Comic Book Form "Means The World" To Her

Game of Thrones alum Emilia Clarke joined the galaxy far, far away as the duplicitous Qi'Ra in Solo: A Star Wars Story, but with a direct sequel to Ron Howard's divisive movie looking more and more unlikely, the chances of her getting the opportunity to reprise the role seem pretty slim.

Of course, the door is always open for Qi'Ra to return in the Lando Calrissian series that's currently in development, but Clarke is going to be kept busy in a Disney+ show of her own (Marvel's Secret Invasion), so her schedule simply may not accommodate it.

Whether we see Qi'Ra again in live-action form remains to be seen, but the character did recently return in the pages of Marvel's Star Wars: War of the Bounty Hunters crossover event, and Clarke was delighted to see her story continue.

"It means so much," Clarke told ComicBook.com. "It means the absolute world. I know her backstory. I know her history. Maybe the movie didn't get to go there, but that was such an honor and a privilege to be part of that universe as an actor. So then, to see the character actually be taken on to the origin of all of it — bringing it on home to the family in that way — cemented it in a way. I was not expecting to feel as moved as I was by that."

Qi'Ra betrayed her old friend at the end of Solo in order to take a higher-ranking position in the Crimson Dawn, and we see that she's still working with Darth Maul's crime syndicate in War of the Bounty Hunters when she's revealed to be the mysterious hooded figure who stole Han's carbonate block from Boba Fett.

Solo and Rogue One. Good movies. I like them a lot.

@Fares - Agreed. Unlike the sequel trilogy Solo and Rogue One actually added something good to the franchise.
Unnecessary, maybe but still good.

She wouldn’t be working for maul at this point in the story because he dies on tattooine before ANH. She probably took over crimson dawn if anything.

@EnterZoom - She's probably the one who managed to take over a whole criminal organization from the hands of an evil former Sith Lord.

OT:
Anyone hear the rumors that Namor is the “villain” for Black Panther 2?
Damn this is getting me hyped !!
I knew it was rumored long ago but now it’s being reported by those leakers that are almost always right.

@MisterDoctor217 - Namor would be a cool villain. Also a good way to differentiate him from Aquaman.

I can't help but wonder how they will explain Black Panther's absence in the movie.

@ChrisRed -
Yes I’m so hyped man! Finally a Latino superhero, well I mean at least the actor if not the character haha
Although we will have Chavez first so that’s good too.

I know hopefully the mantle doesn’t go to Shuri, nothing against her but I dint feel she’s ready and the actress doesn’t have enough gravitas to pull it off in my opnion.
Hopefully it goes to Okoye or M’Baku 🤔

@MisterDoctor217 - I don't know who should get the BP mantle, they might even choose to create a new character for the job. No matter who it is, they'll have to explain why T'Challa is gone from one movie to the next

Honestly, I would love to see Qi'ra appear more in future series, either in her younger years portrayed Emilia Clarke or later portrayed by an older actress like Emmanuelle Beart or Karen Allen, or even by Clarke herself if she has nothing against being digitally aged up.

Qi'Ra is probably one of the few new characters from the Disney era who's story I'd like to see continued, so her comic book appearance is pretty cool.
