STAR WARS Book Reveals More Details About How Yoda Passed The Time While In Exile On Dagobah

An upcoming Star Wars book has finally shed more light on what Yoda was getting up to on Dagobah, explaining how the Jedi Master passed the time during his exile in the wake of Order 66. Check it out...

Lucasfilm has yet to really pull back the curtain fully on what happened to Yoda on Dagobah, though the belief is that it wasn't an overly eventful time in the Jedi Master's life. Forced into hiding after failing to defeat Emperor Palpatine in the wake of Order 66, Yoda's mind and health rapidly declined during the decades spent on the swamp-like planet.

A number of upcoming Star Wars books were revealed by Lucasfilm Publishing at the New York Comic Con this past weekend (via SFFGazette.com), and two pages from Star Wars: 100 Objects by Kristin Baver have proven to be of particular interest to fans.

The book arrives in stores next April, and in this excerpt, we learn about Yoda's blissl, a musical instrument that was incredibly important to the Jedi during his exile. While the blissl has been mentioned in Star Wars before, only a few lines are devoted to it on Wookiepedia, and this is the first time we've got any real details about the item.

"Dagobah's lush ecosystem, strong in the Force, also provided [Yoda] with the means to create the blissl," the new excerpt from 100 Objects explains. "This tiny pipe instrument from his days of isolation suggests that Yoda instinctively understood the psychological benefits of creating an artifact and experiencing a moment of joy, despite the widespread turmoil afflicting the galaxy."

"It's intriguing to think of Yoda, always deeply in touch with the Force, alone on Dagobah yet surrounded by a landscape teeming with life, and finding some solace in music. Perhaps, during his final days, Yoda would have essayed a tune on the blissl, adding his own melody to the chorus of the natural world around him."

This is surprisingly fascinating, and an all too rare glimpse into Yoda's time on Dagobah. Many fans remain optimistic that this period in his life will be explored in a future movie or TV show, though if Yoda is set to return, it will likely be a younger version in one of the planned High Republica era stories that Lucasfilm is working on for the Star Wars franchise.

These Star Wars companion books are , in the words of Barbosa, more guidelines than actual rules. Factual up until any other Star Wars media contradicts it.

@Reeds2Much - Look, I’m not going to lie. That female did (and still does) make me get a funny feeling down in my Jimmy Johns. Also she makes me horny while I’m having a sandwich. Either way you get my point. I mean just look at those DSLs (does anyone still use that term anymore? I’ve been in a coma since the mid-90s and just woke up. I’m assuming that not much has changed since it seems like everyone still gets their porn from the Internet (now where’s my damn dial-up modem?)).

@ObserverIO - I dated a woman who looked exactly like that (which is why I dated her). And she WAS green, but only when I had her dress up like that gremlin.

Actively avoiding going out and trying to save the universe. That’s what he was doing, him and the, like 40, other Jedi who where still alive. Haha
