Oscar Isaac has moved on from the Star Wars franchise to star in Marvel Studios' Moon Knight, and he's not always spoken that fondly of his time in a Galaxy Far, Far Away. Like co-star John Boyega, the actor has expressed disappointment with how the dynamic between Finn and Poe Dameron was handled (in that it lacked a romantic element) over the course of the trilogy.
However, Isaac may not be done with Star Wars after all.
In the video below (via SFFGazette.com), the actor expressed some interest in returning as Poe so long as the project includes a "great story and a great director." His comments are admittedly a tad non-commital, but it certainly doesn't sound as if he's completely wiped his hands with this fan-favourite character.
"I don't know. I'm open to anything. You never know," Isaac said of a potential return. "I have no real feeling one way or the other. I'm open to any kind of good story, any good thing to do. Time's the one thing that becomes much more challenging as you get older and with kids and all that it's like where do these things fit in and you start realizing that there's not enough time for all of it."
"But if there was a great story and a great director and [Kathleen Kennedy] came to me and was like, 'Hey we've got this idea,' I'm so, so open to it," the actor concludes.
Short of something absolutely spectacular being offered to him, we don't expect Isaac to play Poe again and there's no indication that Lucasfilm plans to return to the sequel timeline anytime soon. Instead, they're focusing on that post-Return of the Jedi era and stories set hundreds of years before the prequels in the time of "The High Republic."
We hope there's a future for Isaac as Poe, but would actually prefer some Moon Knight season 2 news at this point!
