STAR WARS Passes The Torch Lightsaber To INFINITY WAR As The Marvel Epic Tops Opening Weekend Record

Lucasfilm has congratulated Marvel Studios for taking the opening weekend record from Star Wars: The Force Awakens by Tweeting out an image of Rey passing a symbolic lightsaber to Iron Man. Take a look...

As we already reported, Avengers: Infinity War officially had the biggest opening weekend of all time, surpassing the record that had previously been set by Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Congratulations have been pouring in from all over, and now Lucasfilm has graciously passed the torch via an image shared over Twitter late last night.

As you can see, the pic shows Rey handing over a the lightsaber she returned to Luke in The Last Jedi, only this time Iron Man is the one accepting it.

Sure, Disney does own both franchises so they are essentially patting themselves on the back here - but there are different people in charge of guiding these movies to success, so some friendly competition still exists.

It seems highly unlikely that Solo: A Star Wars Story will be the one to reclaim that 'saber, but what about Episode IX? We'll just have to wait and see.

The Hulk didn't deserve that spectacular ass beating by Thanos, but he got it anyway.

@SuperCat - I'm already hyped for that. I know they'll let Hulk get in some work for the next movie.

@DVonShakari - Maybe this will trigger another change in the Hulk where we get the smart version?

@lawndart - I think so too. I think Banner and the Hulk will come to terms and have some sort of agreement. Hulk doesn't want his ass kicked like that ever again so maybe he agrees to allow Banner's genius to shine through.
