It seems Episode IX director Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly will be writing the script for the follow-up to Star Wars: The Last Jedi without any aid or input from Rian Johnson. It was initially announced back in June 2014, that Johnson would be creating a treatment for Trevorrow and Connolly to follow but somewhere along the way of Episode VIII's production, that idea was nixed.
With Trevorrow and his Jurassic World scribe seemingly writing the trilogy's finale on their own has that development changed your anticipation for Episode IX? The duo crafted the surprise 2012 indie sci-fi feature Safety Not Guaranteed, which slingshot them to such projects as the fourth Jurassic World film and Kong: Skull Island. While both films achieved marked box office success, critics didn't necessarily list either film's scripts as notable strengths.
