Earlier today, the first official images from War for the Planet of the Apes found their way online, and now a trailer has joined them! As you can see below, the battle between the apes and humanity has escalated a fair bit since the events of Dawn, and Caesar is now capable of delivering a pretty rousing speech as he continues to evolve into the iconic villain we all know from the original Apes movies.

With Matt Reeves back at the helm, it's fair to say that War for the Planet of the Apes is in safe hands, and it looks excellent. It doesn't really reveal much about the plot though, so here's hoping 20th Century Fox release more details about what we should expect over the next few weeks and months.

Starring Andy Serkis, Steve Zahn, Judy Greer, Karin Konoval, Terry Notary, Max Lloyd-Jones, Aleks Paunovic, Sara Canning, Gabriel Chavarria, and Woody Harrelson, War for the Planet of the Apes is set to be released on July 14th, next year, just one week after Spider-Man: Homecoming. Are you excited?

In ‘War for the Planet of the Apes,’ the third chapter of the critically acclaimed blockbuster franchise, Caesar and his apes are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless Colonel. After the apes suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts and begins his own mythic quest to avenge his kind. As the journey finally brings them face to face, Caesar and the Colonel are pitted against each other in an epic battle that will determine the fate of both their species and the future of the planet.
