The actress is apparently "attached" to star in the remake of Barbarella, although some bad news about a director might mean we wont see this for a while...

After progress was seemingly moving forward with actress Rose McGowan and director Robert Rodrigeuz a few years back, it looks like Universal are now looking for another beautiful actress to step into the titular role of Barbarella in their remake of the 1968 sci-fi classic. Pajiba says that Anne Hathaway is currently "attached" to the project, but this comes with the disheartening news that the film doesn't have a director at the moment.

"A. Hathaway latest "attached" to Barbarella. Project currently is without a director."

Here is a synopsis for the original movie which starred Jane Fonda in the title role:

A voluptuous outer space agent travels to another galaxy in search of a missing inventor in this science fiction send-up. Barbarella (Jane Fonda), an interstellar representative of the united Earth government in the 41st century, is dispatched to locate scientist Durand Durand, whose positronic ray, if not recovered, could signal the end of humanity. Outfitted in an array of stunning Star Trek/Bond girl outfits and cruising around in a plush, psychedelic spaceship, Barbarella travels to the Tau Seti system and promptly crash-lands.

What do you guys think? Is Hathaway a good choice for the role? Be sure to share your thoughts in the usual place!
