Gareth Edwards is really moving up into the world, with the success of GODZILLA, it's only natural that the young director expands his reach within the industry. As of recent news, he has been attached to the upcoming Star Wars Spinoff and its entirety is set to be released December 16, 2016. Certainly it will no doubt be a challenge for him, but given how deeply he respects the Star Wars franchise and its source material, Gareth Edwards appears quite ready and extremely excited to provide a grand experience.
However this leaves a question on the minds of many fans in the wake of this news, where does this leave GODZILLA? Well to that I say rejoice, despite Gareth's reach set to be in the stars, GODZILLA still follows closely from the depths as the young director has been confirmed by Tull Thomas from Legendary to be attached not only to the upcoming GODZILLA sequel, but an entire trilogy based upon the kaiju king. Legendary Confirms Gareth Edwards Still Attached to Godzilla Sequel
The big news of the day is that Godzilla helmer Gareth Edwards will be directing a mystery Star Wars film for release on December 16, 2016. What does that mean, though, for another big screen adventure with the King of Monsters? ComingSoon.net's ShockTillYouDrop.com has an update straight from Legendary Pictures CEO Thomas Tull.
“Gareth's filmmaking talent makes him one of his generation's most creative and visionary directors,” says Tull. “The plan has always been for Gareth to direct a different film before we started on another 'Godzilla,' but who knew it would be a 'Star Wars' installment? We have a great plan in store for 'Godzilla' fans and I am looking forward to seeing Gareth’s imprint on the 'Star Wars' universe.”
The Hollywood Reporter goes on to say that Edwards is attached not only to a Godzilla sequel, but for a full Godzilla trilogy.
