JURASSIC WORLD: DOMINION - Sam Neill Greets An "Old Friend" In New Behind-The-Scenes Photo

Sam Neill recently revealed that he was preparing to begin filming his scenes as Dr. Alan Grant for Jurassic World: Dominion, and the former Peaky Blinders actor has now shared a photo from the set of the movie.

The behind-the-scenes snap features his character's hat along with the caption, "Hello old friend." This actually looks like the fedora Grant donned in the third Jurassic Park movie, as he wore a straw hat in the original. Neill also tagged fellow returning cast members Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum, along with new franchise stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard.

While the good doctor's hat is nowhere near as iconic as Indiana Jones' signature sable fedora, this is still a nice little throwback.

It's not much of a tease, but now that production has resumed and the original gang is back in business, we may begin to see some slightly more revealing set pics find their way online.

We're not sure what kind of role Neill and the other JP originals will play in Dominion, but they are expected to make more than just brief cameo appearances.

The Fallen Kingdom follow-up is set to roar into theaters next June.

Can't wait, Alan Grant is the best

I can't wait to see Pratt and Goldblum get into it verbally. It will be wicked cool to see Grant back in action too.

@Lostcause - Like we couldn't wait to see Luke and Han banter again... oh

@VoiceofReason - Well, not sure what Star Wars has to do with Jurassic World, but Han died while Luke was in self exile, which was how it was written. If Pratt and Goldblum's characters meet in the film, I'm hoping for comedic...

If they don't share a scene, I'll enjoy what comes of it. Just like I enjoyed the last 4 Star Wars films and last two JW flicks.

@Lostcause - I just meant that we really hoped for seeing all 3 together again in SW and they didn't make it happen even for a second. They featured Jeff Goldblum in fallen kingdom but he was in it for seconds. I wonder if Dern and Neil will have the same fate.

@VoiceofReason - I totally get that. I wanted it too. I think this film will have all the screen time in equal amounts with both cast split. I can see them teamed up with each other. Like, Neil and Howard then Goldblum and Pratt. The third act, they all get together. What I really want to see is the human cloning aspect of the story. I'm sure that will be the main arc, while the dinos have bred and flourished in some parts of the world. In any case, I need this film out!

I can picture it now...Ellie is trying to help Alan with his new IPhone (Which turns off every time he touches it), while the scene of Malcolm plays in a TV in the background...End nostalgia trip character appearance for the movie...

After the dumpster fire the last movie turned out to be, this is all I expect out of Fallen Kingdom...At least one relation to the original cast...

@vegetaray - I disagree and think FK is far from the disaster everyone makes it out to be.

Will take it instead JP3 any time of the day.

@kylo0607 - Fallen Kingdom for me is the worst of the series...Just my opinion...

At the very least JP3 had Grant to anchor it...Something likable to hold on to...Fallen Kingdom was just a slog from start to finish...

@kylo0607 - that might be your opinion, but it's wrong. Jaws 3 was better than FK, hell even Samurai cop was better!

Jurassic Park WAS my childhood, so I’m excited to see Alan Grant, Malcolm and Ellie back together again.

With that said, considering Trevorrow’s track record, I totally expect JW Dominion to be a giant disappointment. Expectations could not be lower.

Will he wear the same outfit almost 30 years later? Like how Indiana Jones did in Crystal Skull. That way we know who his character is 🙄 seriously though, excites to see Neill acting again
