Jurassic World: Dominion is set to introduce several new species of dino, and this latest still (via Empire Magazine) gives us a first look at a "cousin" of one of the most lethal creatures to ever stalk the screen.
Here, we see Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) on his motorcycle being pursued by a new breed of Velociraptor known as an Atrociraptor - and if it manages to catch up to him, Mr. Grady is in serious trouble.
“It’s a sequence set in Malta. And the picture speaks for itself – it’s Chris Pratt being chased by an Atrociraptor. And if they catch up, he’s gonna die, I can tell you that,” director Colin Trevorrow tells the mag. "Where the Velociraptor is a little bit more of a stealth hunter, the Atrociraptors are a bit more brutish. These things will just come at you. And in this particular case, they’ve picked his scent, and they’re not going to stop until he’s dead. They’re pretty brutal. They’re pretty vicious.”
The movie will also introduce another Raptor "variant" known as a Pyroraptor, which sounds like it might have some kind of connection to fire (we wouldn't be too surprised if this franchise introduced fire-breathing dinosaurs).
For many, the big draw of Dominion will be the involvement of original Jurassic Park stars Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum, and they are all expected to have more than just brief cameo appearances.
Dominion will also see the return of Jake Johnson (Lowery Cruthers), Omar Sy (Barry Sembane), Justice Smith (Franklin Webb), Daniella Pineda (Zia Rodriguez), Isabella Sermon (Maisie Lockwood), and BD Wong (Dr. Henry Wu). Franchise newcomers include Mamoudou Athie (Sorry for Your Loss), DeWanda Wise (She's Gotta Have It), Dichen Lachman (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) and Scott Haze (Venom).
Jurassic World: Dominion will roar into cinemas on June 10, 2022.
