Jurassic World is still filming but, according to co-writer/director Colin Trevorrow, sequels are already planned looking to expand the Jurassic universe.

“We definitely talked about [sequels] a lot,” Tovorrow told Empire. “We wanted to create something that would be a little bit less arbitrary and episodic, and something that could potentially arc into a series that would feel like a complete story.”

The story arcs are already in place according to the director who revealed he would be happy to return to the helm if the studio would have him.

He also gave some detail about what we could expect from the sequels, singling out Omar Sy's character as a possible returnee.

“He’s essentially Chris Pratt’s best friend,” he said. “They work together and have some pretty cool action scenes together. I wanted to create a relationship there that could be memorable and potentially carry on to future films.”

Currently filming in Hawaii, Jurassic World will return to Isla Nublar to see just what has become of the dinosaurs since the island was abandoned 22 years ago in the original film.

The director also confirmed he will be using animatronics and gave more details on his take of the film.

“It’s about alpha dominance and the fact that humans have been the alpha species for a very long time", he explained, "and so now we’ve brought back another that happened to be the alpha species during its time, and we have to co-exist, so what is that relationship?”

Let's hope this sequel can live up to the original! Here's the trailer for all you nostalgia fans.

Directed by Colin Tovorrow and starring Chris Pratt, Omar Sy, Vincent D’Onofrio, Irrfan Khan, Nick Robinson, Ty Simpkins and of course the dinosaurs, Jurassic World is set for release on June 12th 2015.

I'm almost positive all those dinosaurs were real.

Am I the only person who wants this film series to die? I have the original films and they are 'alright' at best but other than the technical aspect and some scenes they are fairly generic.

The issue is with Jurassic World... its bound to follow the plotline of the Dinosaurs interacting with humans and whether they could co-exist... but as the original series has proven that is impossible - making this storyline redundant.

I'll probably end up watching it at some point - but this series should have remained extinct.

I'll wait till I see this new one.

After the T-Rex got loose in 3, why wouldn't they have just nuked the island(s) to get rid of them? Oh, forgot, then they'd have Godzilla on their hands...

You can describe any film like that and make it sound generic. But I suppose this movie is not for you.

I'm not saying 2 and 3 are that great but the first one is amazing

I admire his confidence anyway. I'll watch the movie with an open mind but I'm still disappointed there's no Sam Neill or Jeff Goldblum.

He should probably make sure this movie will be good and does well for itself before planning a sequel. The GA may not be into dinosaurs this decade.

I am super happy to hear that they are using animatronic puppets again. CGI is great but animatronics age better in movies. I wonder if when they are talking about alpha dinosaurs if they are talking about the Troodon or Giganotosaurus.

I agree with @BlackJoe that was one if the first things I was looking towards hearing about when they announced this film and I'm glad they're using them again.

Animatronics look very real as opposed to CGI. Jurassic Park scared the hell out of my little sister. With a little CGI this movie should do the same.

@Bekss

True - but I'm pretty sure the second one tried that Dinosaur human interaction situation and lets be honest - the franchise has been getting worse with each film in terms of quality, profit earned, etc...

Their just isn't anywhere for the films to go.
