I'm anxious to see this. But I'm afraid with that many people on the island to get eaten by dinosaurs, and it not being rated R, it will feel like one of those generic horror movies on the ScyFy channel. I hope it's great. Gonna reach JP1 this weekend. You apparently don't really have to watch the other two again since they were on the other island and no cast members are coming back.

Jurassic park is not a horror flick...you should definitely watch the other ones to understand the general concept...

I've come to realize the directing, writing and even marketing teams really do give a lot of [frick]s about the original Jurassic Park, in a very good way. It's not like Universal came to Colin Trevorrow and said "you watched this movie called Jurassic Park? doesn't matter, point is: we need cash and we'll make a sequel for 2015, we're gonna give you a lot of money and you just need put tits, dinosaurs and action". Instead, we've got Steven Spielberg himself looking over this fresh and passionate guy who Steven really seems to trust, the same guys that did the effects for Jurassic Park and a [frick]ton of nods to the original movie, to the point of putting microscopic easter eggs on the movie and official site, as well as marketing. It even shares the rating, and Giacchino is making the music. It perhaps appears to be one of the very rare species of non-soulless remake/reboot/sequel/prequel/spinoff of old beloved movies, an almost extinct kind I would say, unlike many of the new projects based on old franchises that have been anounced or already premiered. However, it carries that weight of being the sequel of what many consider a perfect movie and the successor of what many consider two terrible sequels, plus the extra weight of having to be on par with the -at the time- groundbreaking and mindblowing visual effects of an animatronic with CGI legs under the rain at night. Without the existence of the first movie, this would probably sound like one of the best projects of modern times, but instead it carries that weight of being "Son of...", the skepticism is present, specially since the trailers and TV spots have to constantly update their scenes' VFX since the visuals of the film are still under development when those trailers are made public, making the whole internet shout "THEY'RE RUINING MY CHILDHOOD, 1993 CGI RAPTOR IN THE KITCHEN LOOKED BETTER THAN MEMELORD'S RAPTOR SQUAD". Jurassic World indeed has a lot to prove to those who only limit themselves to watch trailers and react to the comment sections the same way others do to feel like one of their party, and on the other hand it has a lot to prove to fans who will be extremely dissapointed if it turns out to be another Jurassic Park 3. It's one of the rare cases where, at less than a month of release, a film has almost the same amount of hype and optimism than of hate and backlash, making everyone unsure if it'll be a pleasant surprise and become one of the best blockbusters of the year or one of the worst tragedies of it. The passion and fanatism from the makers themselves is there, but we have to see if their talent also pays off.

Personally, I think Kingpin himself's gotta be there for some reason.

@four20smoke. I own all three. I know their not horror flicks. My point seems to have gone over your head.

In the first film, you only actually see one guy get eaten. This film will have hundreds of people getting attacked, so it could feel cheap since they can only show so much pg 13.

@wyleejay My point: if you have seen all three and "own" them you should not be suprised that this movie will not have a bunch of scenes showing violent deaths of innocent people by hungry predators. You should try watching anaconda or sharknado

I think you have smoked too much. Cause that's not what I said. It is going over your head. I said I was afraid that this movie could feel like that with so many people getting killed. The deaths will probably happen off screen like most from the other films. I'm hoping that this film isn't a case of " bigger is better". Cause that doesn't always work. It didn't work for the Spinosaurus in 3. So hopefully their not just doing that again with the I Rex. Oh six people died in this film, so let's make it a couple hundred this time. That's what I'm saying. Never once did I say I wanted it to be a horror film or see people get ripped apart. Lay off the blunts for a bit son.

You know the entire franchise has never been rated R right? lol

This film easily hits the right tone compared to the first film way more than the two sequels. This looks to be equally fun and terrifying. Also the trailer in 3D is terrifying in IMAX. Can't wait to see it!
