Legendary Pictures CEO On GODZILLA Vs. KING KONG: “I Wanted To See Them Fight”

We have approximately 1825 days before we lay eyes on Godzilla and King Kong on the same screen! And while they’re still figuring it out, Legendary CEO Thomas Tull spoke on the film.

After the success of the Gareth Edwards’ 2014 Godzilla film, Legendary and Warner Bros. Pictures decided to move forward with Kong: Skull Island –which is set to hit theaters in 2017. After that, they would later go on to announce the long-awaited Godzilla vs King Kong film that is set to hit the big screens in 2020. While the studio says they are confident they “can come up with a rationale to explain how Kong and Godzilla can do battle - and possibly become allies”, they still must tackle “Skull Island”, and ensure that, that film is a success!

While everyone expressed their excitement about the announcement back in October, Legendary Founder & CEO, Thomas Tull recently revealed that he wanted to see the two monsters do battle just as much as the fans do! “I’m juvenile,” Tull said yesterday at Business Insider’s Ignition conference. “I wanted to see them fight.”

With the uprise of many films like ‘Warcraft’, Pacific Rim 2
(which was removed off of Universal’s release calendar)and films of that genre , Tull says he just wants to make sure the studio is a part of the fun. “It’s exciting and we want to hang around the rim and make sure we’re a part of it.” Share your thoughts in the comment section below!

I'd rather see Avengers or JL face off against Godzilla.

@JamesMann - I'm trying but I'm just not good at it especially at being serious. Flames seems more like.

Isn't Godzilla like Ginormous like Sky Scraper Big and King Kongs like 2 or 3 Story house Big...
I hope he brings Diddy Kong.

Its not the size that counts Slick it's how B&Y uses it.

Err how can it be a flame war? WB are making Godzilla vs King Kong as well. For this franchise including Godzilla 2 and Skull Island Legendary are back with WB.

@DrDoom - ahhhhh....right on good doctor!
My mistake I keep forgetting that not all are young and do remember the silver and golden age of comic books.

Kong will probably eat Zilla's radioactive 'banana' juice, then he'll grow huge...yep, they're turning both pansexual...

My problem with this is that there is no way King Kong can hold a fight with Godzilla. The King Kong from GODZILLA VS KING KONG was a completely different King Kong made by Toho for that film.

This film is part of a shared universe, so it will feature the real King Kong (from the KONG franchise) that is no where near as massive as Godzilla.
