When Legendary & Universal Pictures couldn't come to an agreement, Pacific Rim 2 was delayed indefinitely. This eventually led Universal Studios removing the sequel film off of their release schedule and replaced with Pitch Perfect 3. While many people doubted the franchise's future, director Guillermo Del Toro confidently revealed that the film is not dead, it just needs time to sort things out.

Even Universal Pictures has admitted that they still want the project to move forward. "The decision was made to delay the production and release of Pacific Rim 2 so that the creative team can continue in its efforts to exceed the amazing experience of the first film.” That was said during Universal Pictures' official announcement, last month.

Even though the franchise isn't looking too good at the moment,Guillermo Del Toro continues to fight for the film's release. Earlier on Twitter, he revealed that the budget and the script for Pacific Rim 2 has been submitted, and is waiting approval. Check out his tweet below!

So, now it's just a wait and see. Will the studios love the script and approve of the film's release? I'm sure we'll hear something from Del Toro soon. Share your thoughts on the news in the comment section below!
