THE PREDATOR Actor Thomas Jane Shares Exciting New Plot Details For The Upcoming Movie

It may still be a while before we see any official footage from Shane Black's The Predator, but actor Thomas Jane has given some insight into the film's setup. Find out more after the jump...

Very little information has been revealed about the new Predator movie, aside from the fascinating tidbit that the film will take place in the American subburbs. That alone separates it from the jungle settings of the original films and now we have a few fresh details on the plot.
In a recent interview with
Shadow Nation, The Predator actor Thomas Jane shared some new info about the group of soldiers who find themselves facing down the alien monsters.

“We play these veterans from like Afghanistan, Iraq war or whatever. But we’re all [frick]ing crazy so we go to the VA hospital to get our meds. We’re all like shellshocked, PTSD…soldiers. We’re at the VA hospital and we’re in group therapy and of course, somebody flips out…this is backstory, I don’t think we really see this…somebody flips out and we all get arrested and get thrown onto the bus to go down to the hospital and they throw this other guy on the bus too.”

From these details it sounds like the group might just have the experience necessary to take on the advanced killer lifeforms. Jane also shared a little information into the other individual along for the ride.

"He’s a guy they’ve actually marked to kill him because he’s seen a UFO, he’s seen the Predator ships come down so they lock him up and throw him in with us lunatics. They’re going to take that bus, drive it down to a ditch and shoot us all just to get rid of this one guy. But, of course, we take the bus over and we’re all like ‘f**k that, man, let’s go kill these [frick]ing Predators ourselves.’ And we’re just crazy enough to believe that this guy really did see a UFO and there’s these aliens out there. So that’s kinda cool!”

There's certainly a lot to dissect in those details from a potential alien cover up to a team of army vets who may not quite have their heads screwed on straight. Jane also promised the director's signature comedy definitely has a prescence in the film:

“[It] has that kind of Shane Black humour. We had a blast. It was funny. You know the Predators, they looked…you know they didn’t f**k those up. They’re still Predators and they’re pretty much the same Predator as always. I think it might be great.”

We still have a while to wait before the hunt begins as The Predator isn't released until August 2018. However, based on this new info it seems like we could be in for something quite unique.

Ah, the time where Hollywood movie stars were shooting actual weapons, not like now where they don't eject shell casings, the guy doesn't press the trigger, there is no recoil and they add a little muzzle flash in post lol

I'm probably going to skip this in the theater, in home release and on network television if that is the storyline.
They needed to take the Predators idea two steps further and place them on an actual ALIEN planet where it doesn't resemble Earth's jungles at all, then place other aliens on the planet that they are hunting for sport, have some of the species transcend their communication gap and band together to take out the Predators hunting them. For fun throw in an Alien drone or two as an "ultimate prize" hunt that pops sphere and there.

I'm still pissed that Predator 2 sucked. The premise of a Predator in an urban environment was gold.

PLEASE don't make it end where there was no Predator, and it was really Thomas Jane in a costume who says "You want the Predator? I AM the predator!"

@trytan - Did they find the "predator" in some random room turning out to be an actor named Terry?

This sounds flarking stupid.

The Predator films should be easy to make; instead, Fox keeps making crappy movie after crappy movie.

Like jesus christ, put a predator in the mountains of Afghanistan. Now that's a flarking premise.

Or put a Predator on an ocean liner that's been taken over by Somali pirates.

Or...I mean, the point is these are monster movies. Isolated locations. Enemy combatants. And one big bad ass alien killing everybody.

Good old Hollywood. You can always count on them to portray the military as either victims, lunatics, automatons or war mongers. Meanwhile not one of them have served a minute in the Armed Forces.

The saying is, "Write what you know" and clearly they don't know a damn thing about being in the military.

Seriously tho I'm actually kinda excited for this, I like Shane Black & I like the predator movies (some obviously more than others). & it's cool since he actually was in the original predator movie. He probably has a unique perspective

@ThouBear8 - We need a tally for pointlessly set at christmas movies. So any Shane Black movie and Batman Returns springs to mind.
