Jose Padilha Officially Signed On To Direct 'Robocop'.

The fairly unknown director of 'Elite Squad' has officially signed on to direct the upcoming reboot/remake of the 1987 movie 'Robocop'...

Not too long ago we reported that director Jose Padilha was rumored to be closing a deal with MGM to direct the upcoming 'Robocop' reboot, and now it looks like that's been confirmed as he told GI that the deal has officially been closed.
The reboot/remake will have a script written by Josh Zetumer, most of you will not recognize his name for the simple fact that he has never produced any screenplays. He does however have a spy-thriller movie called 'Infiltrator' currently in development over at Warner Bros.

Most of you wont recognize Jose Padilha's name either. He directed the movie 'Elite Squad' as well as a handful of documentaries.

It's kind of hard to say how this movie will turn out with two fairly unknowns involved with directing and the script. I've never seen any of Jose's movies before but who knows, maybe the two of them can bring a fresh take to and old character.

If he even remotely resembles that cyber ninja anime bullshit, this movie is a fail. Robocop is a tank, not a laser gun.

Elite Squad looks interesting gotta check it out!

Hope he makes Robocop gritty and realistic and not add that futuristic stuff what is in those concept arts!

I don't know how to feel about this. I love the Original. It was gritty and still stands the test of time. This could turn out to be good tho. We shall see.

se o Jpadilha tiver liberdade e colocar toda a violencia e brutalidade de "tropa de elite"em robocop ,a gente tem um vencedor.

if they give Jpadilha freedom to work and he brings all the violence and brutality of "elitesquad" to robocop we got a winner.

capitao nascimento vira robocop..."tras u cabo de vassora!"

@OSCURO that's absolutely hilarious! lmao

hey dudes, seriously, you gotta believe me on this. If you have not watched Elite Squad, you are wasting time. One of the best movies I've ever seen. And then you wont wait a second until you watch ES2, and you will be blown away with it.

Robocop will be a delight if it's done by this guy.

doesnt matter where you watch it, crappy online websites, rented from shittybuster, or anywhere... Just do it!

I think netflix has ES1, but not the 2.

Elite Squad 1 & 2 completely RULES.

Padilha is the man, no doubts of that!

Cant wait to see his version of Robocop, since he loves razor tempered anti-heroes and often shows all colors of real violence and also criticizes main social hypocrisy.

His Captain Nascimento cannot be stopped. Even by the System. Total warrior who lives by a code of justice.

I imagine what he would do with the Punisher....it would be just the PERFECTION.

In fact, I hope Fox NEVER hires him.

It would be a total waste of talent.
