Alice Eve On Benedict Cumberbatch's STAR TREK Role: "He's Not Playing Khan"

Despite many believing that Entertainment Weekly slipped up by outing the real identity of Cumberbatch's villain in Star Trek Into Darkness, British actress Alic Eve remains adamant that he is definitely not Khan when questioned on the Bafta red carpet..

Many fans thought that the true identity of the villain known as John Harrison has finally been revealed to be Khan when EW printed a pic of Cumberbatch alongside Star Trek Into Darkness co-star Chris Pine, with the headline "Kirk and Khan". Although just as many believed (apparently rightfully so) that thsi was merely a misprint, and not the leaking of some big secret by the mag at all. In the below vid Alice Eve is asked about it, and flatly states that he is NOT playing the classic Trek villain.

Of course this still doesn't really prove anything, as we all know that stars and directors will flat out lie about such things to keep secrets, but in this case I think we're going to have to resign ourselves to the fact that we will not be getting a new take on Khan Noonien Singh in this Star Trek sequel.

@SpiderBat209- I was actually thinking Irfan Khan could be a good choice for Khan. At least Irfan is ACTUALLY Indian plus he LOOKS evil AND he has the last name- Khan lol.

My vote has always been for Irfan Khan to be Khan. PLUS he looks evil like i said- look at those beady eyes AND i can see Irfan Khan playing a more business version of Khan, maybe he can be running a Eugenics corporation or somethin...

But yeah no way is Cumberbatch playing Khan. If he is, [frick] I'll want my money back.

@IDKwhatToChoose- Yeah same here, i never wanted Khan in this film...ANYWHERE in this film. But IF they MUST bring him in...maybe to the 3rd one, I'd go with Irfan Khan for the role.

I'm surprised we still have no idea who the [frick] he's really playing. Of course John Harrison is a fake name for his real character but I'm amazed we still don't know.

I wouldn't mind him just being a guy named John Harrison. That could certainly work out fine.

I kinda like the Robert April theory

I agree with most of you guys as well. Having an Indian actor or any of the racial types that use the former Mongol language names would be cool but not actually necessary. But for me most importantly I think is that I would really like them to go their own direction and not just make it a rehash of the old series', otherwise why do them? Let them be new with minor nods to the original series is best in my opinion.

He's an agent of Khan, I'm sure of it. I guarantee it's going to be just like the Batman Begins situation where Cumberbatch's character acts liek the one in charge but Peter Weller's character turns out to be Khan...

Why would he be Khan? why would Khan suddenly be a different race? Why would he be an organization? This universe was split by the arrival of Nero's ship at the time of Kirk's birth. Khan would have been frozen and floating through space for 200 years before the change in the timeline.

I'm with CrispySeaplanes on this one. Unless Abrams has just decided to say 'screw continuity,' then Khan should still be asleep in the Botany Bay. Aside from that, I don't see why Khan would be in Starfleet.

That's one of the reasons I was against a 'soft' reboot in the first place. If you're going to reboot, then reboot. Don't try and connect it to the original just to placate fans.

They'll probably pull that 'final scene reveal' crap that's been popular lately and have him be 'John Harrison' then at the end reveal that his birth name is Khan or Mitchell. Worked for TDKR and Skyfall.

I think it's a misprint. Also, too many actors have gone public saying that he is NOT Khan.

Why would they try to hide his identity? If they were really out to present a rebooted Khan, you'd think they would publicize it to no end.
I don't think they'd waste Cumberbatch on such an established character too.
No, this is a new one.

Also, although changing continuity would be irrelevant at this point... Khan was a leader in the Eugenics War, which supposedly took place in the 1990s. He'd have been cryogenically frozen nearly a century before Nero created an alternate timeline. If you wanted to update the continuity simply because obviously we haven't had World War III yet, we'd still have Enterprise in 2150, which First Contact predates by 90 years - having a lack of real government (from the war) set at 2040.

So somewhere in the next few decades, we will have seen Khan.
