Duncan Jones Says He Won't Direct STAR TREK 3

With Robert Orci no longer directing Star Trek 3, the current shortlist of potential replacements include Edgar Wright, Rupert Wyatt, Justin Lin, Daniel Espinosa, Morten Tyldum and Jones.

Moon and Source Code director Duncan Jones seems like a great choice to direct Star Trek 3 in the wake of J.J. Abrams leaving the franchise for Star Wars; Episode VII and Orci "voluntarily" vacating director duties.   However, Jones is intent on working on an original concept after finishing up his duties on Warcraft.

It's likely that one of the two original projects Jones is hoping to make next is Mute, an original screenplay Jones has been tinkering with for nearly 10 years. Last year, Jones announced that he would be teaming up with famous Preacher and Hellblazer cover artist Glenn Fabry to adapt Mute as a graphic novel before hopefully starting production on the feature film.

Have no interest in Warcraft so Im cool with him sticking to original stuff. Moon and Source Code were incredible. Hopefully one day though he tackles a comic book film - maybe Green Lantern?

Duncan Jones seems like a really talented director. Sad thing is if he wasn't doing Warcraft he probably would have jumped at the opportunity to do Trek. Can't blame him for wanting to tell his own stories too though.

Captain Kirk is climbing the mountain. To hug the mountain. To envelope the mountain. He wants to make love with the mountain.

Burn well that sucks he was my pick. You never now though things change. Rian Johnson once said the same thing. Now hes doing star wars 8 and 9. But im sure he will do somthing original before that.

@jediphilosopher Ive never really watched any of the old trek films besides wrath of khan and nemesis. Are they worth watching in order?

As a music lover, i love the Star Trek movies for the sweeping soundtracks.

I also love the spaceships, then the characters, then the storylines.

So, watch them with a very good sound system.

Wow this is pretty cool. Ive never given the old films music very much thought. It totally gives me an 80s adventure space opera feeling. Like if I close my eyes I can feelmyself cruising through space. Thanks man.

What do you think? should I give the films a go in order? is there a blue ray set?

Too bad, he is by far the best director for the job.

Surely, I have the movies on DVD and rebought half of them on Blu-Ray.

I started watching the movies in 1989, reading about it in magazines.
Star Trek V was released in the year to Batman and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. so it was a good year for the soundtracks, so i had a VHS marathon back then with my parents.

My parents fell asleep in which movie "They talk and talk without end"

But I tried to explain them the marvel of those movies.
I even tried to explain my mother that those movies give hope for the future, yada yad yada, message of peace, etc and the she laugh at me "Sure, they are peaceful, until they blow each other to pieces". hahah

So, the movies sometimes refer to events in the episodes, so part of the fun
is searching for the origin of the joke.

It happened to me in the movie "Final Fantasy VII:Advent Children", i ended up playing 10 games on the series to get all the references on the movie. :)

So, what can I say, have fun, maybe you´ll get hooked too.
