Since Disney brought LucasFilm, Star Wars has been in the news with rumors and wonderings about the new trilogy Disney announced. A renowned art critic called Camille Paglia recently but out a book called Glittering Images. In the book she reviews and analyzes 29 works of art throughout art history. In the book's final chapter, Paglia makes a very big and bold claim saying that George Lucas's Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith is the greatest work of art in recent memory.

Paglia was interviewed with Vice, where she was asked why she felt this stood out among other artworks from artists like Matthew Barney, Rachel Whiteread, Chris Ware or Peter Doig. Paglia explained that, "The long finale of Revenge of the Sith has more inherent artistic value, emotional power, and global impact than anything by the artists you name. It's because the art world has flat-lined and become an echo chamber of received opinion and toxic over-praise. It's like the emperor's new clothes -- people are too intimidated to admit what they secretly think or what they might think with their blinders off."

Paglia continues on saying how Episode III epitomizes the modern digital art movement, more so than other work of art from the last 30 years. "I had considered using Japanese anime for the digital art chapter of the book, but it lacked the overwhelming operatic power and yes, seriousness of Lucas's Revenge of the Sith."

Well everyone is entitled to their opinions. No one should be hated on and scorned for their opinion no matter if you agree with it or not. What do you think? Do you agree with her or do you think another movie or work of art is more worthy? Comment below. Peace.
