A one minute teaser trailer for
Star Trek Into Darkness was recently classified, confirming that we'll see even more footage from the J.J. Abrams-directed sequel this month. According to
Trek Movie, we can expect not one, but two new trailers for March. A 1:16 teaser will be in theaters starting today with Disney's
Oz: The Great & Powerful, and is said to be more kid-friendly for the audience. A similar situation happened in 2009, when Abrams' first
Trek had a family friendly trailer attached to
Monsters Vs. Aliens. Additionally, this teaser is a mix of previously seen footage and the IMAX preview, as well as some new footage. It's also unknown if it will be available online, unlike the 2009 trailer.
Additionally, Trek Movie has learned that a full theatrical trailer for
Star Trek Into Darkness will be released on March 29th, and will be attached to Paramount's other big 3D sequel
G.I. Joe: Retaliation. This trailer should be considered the "theatrical trailer", with significant new footage and a 2:20 running time. Stay tuned to CBM for more news as we have it.
Star Trek Into Darkness stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Benedict Cumberbatch, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, Alice Eve and Anton Yelchin. The film is set to hit theaters May 17th.
