Actor Michael Dorn is best known for his portrayal of Worf in Star Trek, particularly in the acclaimed series The Next Generation. He played the Klingon 281 times across many projects, with only 175 of those being in TNG.
Not only has the actor appeared as the character in 102 episodes of Deep Space Nine, but he also reprised the role in four Star Trek movies and was one of only six actors who returned for Star Trek: Captain's Chair. Even beyond his acting capabilities, Dorn even directed multiple episodes of both of his main shows.
Obviously, the thespian has a love for the character that spans decades, and that is likely one of the biggest reasons that Worf has been so heavily rumored to be joining Patrick Stewart's character in CBS All Access' Star Trek: Picard in an upcoming episode or season. However, when we recently chatted with Dorn about his newest film, Agent: Revelation, we tried to get some information about that rumor, and he was very adamant about stressing that the rumor is simply that and not reality.
He went on to tell us whether or not he would actually return to Picard should he receive an invite in the future, and he made it clear that it would simply depend on what the part was for Worf and what it would mean for the character. Check out his comments for yourself below.
"I can say full freedom that they have not contacted me at all. And it would just depend on the part. It would just depend; once again, there are three hours of makeup for 26 episodes. I don't know if I want to do that, but it would depend on many things. It would depend on the part. It depends on what they wanted to do with the character or just all of these things.
That's the good thing about where I am in my career right now because I pick and choose things that I want to do because they're interesting. And not because I have to. I mean, the only real reason for doing that is so I can giggle and laugh with Patrick and everybody for a few days, which is always a lot of fun. But otherwise, no, the show has been on for a couple of years, and I haven't heard a peep out of them."
Hear all of this and more in the below clip from our chat with Dorn, and be sure to leave your thoughts in the usual spot.
