Yesterday, we received confirmation from Chris Pine that the upcoming Star Trek sequel was nearing its end of production. Now, a reader for Ain't It Cool News sent the following spoilers for the J.J. Abrams-directed film to the site. The spoilers reveal whether or not Leonard Nimoy will reprise his role as older Spock (which was suggested in an interview that the actor gave recently), who Benedict Cumberbatch is playing and a battle scene in the film. Despite AICN saying that "there is a strong "credibility of circumstance" here", the following info hasn't been officially confirmed, so take the info with a grain of salt until we receive further confirmation.

Highlight To Read The Spoilers.

Leonard Nimoy's Spock is definitely in the film and will have long and "stately" robes.

Benedict Cumberbatch = Khan.

There's a "deep space" smackdown between Kirk and Khan in space suits. "Flying" suits per my contact.

Well, there you go. As I said, take the above details with a grain of salt until we receive official confirmation.

UPDATE: TrekMovie are also backing up the claims that these spoilers are legit, while also saying that the Klingons will be featured.

Starring Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Benedict Cumberbatch, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg and Alice Eve, Star Trek 2 (not the final title) is set to hit theaters May 17th, 2013.

Khan by way of Melville: "To the last, I will grapple with thee... from Hell's heart, I stab at thee! For hate's sake, I spit my last breath at thee!"

nice - kinda knew this already, tho it was all speculated a long time ago. Nimoy is a legend - guy loves the Trek as much as the Trek loves him

Please NO Khan!!!

In Wrath of Khan, Khan was butthurt at Kirk (who was an admiral) for being abandoned on Seti Alpha 6 (or 5?) for 15 years. So, what exactly would be Khan's gripe be this time.
I am calling utter BS on this.

If theres any truth to this then hope it's still losely based on the Star Trek: Season 1 Episode 22 episode where Capt. Kirk and his crew find and inadvertently revive a genetically augmented world conqueror (Khan) and his compatriots from Earth's past (mostly copy and paste). From what I remember that was a good episode.

@johnnysnow: I know, but it sounds better than "This is an unsubstantiated rumour and/or hoax that is probably bullshit but we need something to talk about and give fanboys stuff to argue over until real information comes along so here you go" ;)

Trekmovie are confirming these as true!

I am deeply disappointed. :(

And they also confirm the Klingons are going to have a prominant role in the film. That along with the return of Nimoy, I am afraid, is the only good news.

This won't be "wrath of Khan" Khan, it will be Origin Khan. therefore Klingons aren't needed.

I hope it's true. That explains why he had to pump iron for the role. That's a bight pectoral standard to live up to.

benedict cumberbatch playing Khan, this is pathetic, [frick]ing wish Abrams had close the deal with Benicio del Toro, now he would´ve been impresive as KHAN!

NNNOOO!

Look, I liked the reboot but come on...can't JJ and them boys come up with something as original as the first film? They really broke the mold with that one and made Star Trek fun again. I don't want to see a non-hispanic Khan. Cumberbatch is brilliant but a british Khan will be all kinds of jacked up.

I'm with Grif and the rest... rebooting Khan is stupid. Khan's been done, he's dead, move on. The original Star Trek film was a retelling of the old Nomad episode, and that sucked. Then they sequeled the old Khan episode, and that was fine, but he's dead now, and he was never that geat to begin with... if Khan is the villain, I probably won't even bother with the film. It shows a lack of imagination to rehash Khan. Abrams impresses with his take on things, but with Khan, I'm not going to give him a chance to impress me... cuz it's just stupid.

I'm enjoying this new universe, so JJ could bring anything he wants. I was never interested in the old TV version.

This one will probably be similar.

I'm with 6of13 and the rest, THEY DID KHAN IN THE FIRST NEW MOVIE. Think, Khan mad at Kirk for death of his wife has planet destroying weapon; Nero mad at Spock for death of his wife has planet destroying weapon. And please god no more time travel! That's just a self-referencial pander to the fans who want to see Shatner. Not that I have anything against Shatner but please, he is in the other universe that they have been at pains to leave behind, (oh and dead). When they "transferred" the story to a whole new reality in another universe I thought this was great! But if they are just going to tell the same old stories....then after 40 years of fandom they have lost me.

I admit Benedict Cumberbatch is one great actor but hell no i can see him as Khan Noonien Singh!:/

I bet this isnt true! Cumberbatch is Gary Mitchell or something!

@Gmoney84 That is a moronic statement. Khan was a Hindi played by a Hispanic if anything he should be played by a true Hindi.

@conansf Khan was the 2nd movie not the first. Also this would be a retelling of the story from the "series" not the "movie". And with the changes and on a movie scale it could be interesting.
conansf
conansf - 4/30/2012, 4:41 PM
Totally get where you are coming from Dmon but I meant Khan was the first of the new rebooted series of movies where the plot just renamed him as Nero.
There has got to be more plots out there than a villan having a beef with one of the characters and trying to therefore destroy planets. We are supposed to be boldly going, new civilisations, etc - let's see some of that.

l0rdleg0las - 4/30/2012, 11:18 PM
i liked it better when it seemed the plan was for Cumberbatch to be Gary Mitchell. made more sense and saved Khan for the 3rd movie or for a completely different set of villians that moves this series away fron the original.
l0rdleg0las
l0rdleg0las - 5/1/2012, 1:05 AM
@timotey

while i agree that Khan is a much more appealing villian in general, he has been done already. it is a similar disappointment to Lex Luthor or Zod always being the villian in a Superman movie.

aside from tv episodes, no one knows Gary Mitchell that well or at all. his character can be slightly altered to make him more menacing and interesting. in the case of Khan he is established as what he is and now Cumberbatch needs to live up to an awesome portrayal of the character, rather than use his talent to bring to life a character that can be wholly his own.
