BOX OFFICE: ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY Has Already Passed $400 Million Worldwide

It's been out barely a week, but Rogue One: A Star Wars Story has already passed $400 million worldwide ahead of a holiday weekend where it looks set to once again dominate any and all competition...

The Force is still strong with Rogue One: A Star Wars Story as it gears up for its second weekend at the North American box office. The movie grossed $16.7 million yesterday, taking its current domestic haul up to $221.9 million. By the end of today, it will have passed Doctor Strange's current haul of $227 million, and it should go up over the next few weeks, especially with pretty much no competition.

Sing will bring in younger moviegoers, but tepid reviews for the likes of Passengers, Why Him?, and Assassin's Creed guarantee that Rogue One should stay on top for the time being in North America.
Internationally, the movie made $15 million on Thursday for a total of $197.9 million, led by the UK with an impressive $35.1 million. As a result, the first of Disney and Lucasfilm's Star Wars Anthology movies now has a total of $420 million worldwide. It should be interesting to see how much higher it's able to go over the next few days, though common sense says it will soon pass the $500 million mark.
