Even though Solo: A Star Wars Story didn't perform as well as Disney/Lucasfilm expected or hoped, reliable sources indicated that a spin-off focusing on the younger Lando Calrissian was in the early stages of development not long after the movie's release.
We never got an official announcement, though, and it was generally assumed that the project must have fallen by the wayside as Lucasfilm began to scale back on Star Wars content after The Rise of Skywalker similarly disappointed at the box office.
However, it seems we haven't seen the last of Donald Glover's take on the charming space-swindler.
While speaking to GQ about his most iconic roles, Glover, aka Childish Gambino, confirmed that he is still "talking" about the best way to revisit the character.
The Community star says that he would love to play Lando again, but doesn't just want to do it for the sake of a pay-cheque. He says he can't speak much more about it for fear of Kathleen Kennedy "hunting me down," but there's a chance we might find out more at Star Wars Celebration London this weekend.
Lando is very popular, so we're sure fans would embrace any new Disney+ series or even a movie focusing on the character, but it will be interesting to see how Lucasfilm approaches this mysterious project after the (perceived) failure of Solo.
