GOTHAM Alum Cameron Monaghan Teases Possible Live-Action Turn As STAR WARS JEDI's Cal Kestis

After playing "The Joker" in Gotham, actor Cameron Monaghan took a trip to a Galaxy Far, Far Away to play Cal Kestis in the Star Wars Jedi video game series, but could a live-action appearance follow?

Jedi: Fallen Order was a bigger critical and commercial hit than anyone anticipated, and the story of young Jedi Cal Kestis instantly resonated with Star Wars fans. The character has since become a firm fan-favourite, with the hope being that he will eventually make the leap to live-action.

While the adventure will continue for Cal in next year's Jedi: Survivor, his story being set between the events of Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope opens the door to him appearing in any number of upcoming projects. Andor, for example, would be a great potential fit for the character seeing as that revolves around the Rebellion's early days.

Time will tell on that front, but there continue to be rumours online that Gotham alum Cameron Monaghan will bring his video game protagonist to the big or small screen.

Doing the rounds to promote Paradise Highway, the actor only fuelled speculation by telling Screen Rant (via SFFGazette.com), "Well of course there’s interest. That’s about all I can say. [Laughs]"

These comments are very similar to what Ian McDiarmid was saying prior to his return as Emperor Palpatine in Obi-Wan Kenobi, and we'd be surprised if something has already been lined up for the actor. Lucasfilm will need to explain where he was during the events of the original trilogy, of course, but an appearance in Ahsoka also seems somewhat feasible.

Previously, there have been rumblings about a Cal Kestis TV series, though we're not sure what that would mean for the video game franchise. With D23 and Disney+ Day rapidly approaching, we can only hope that Lucasfilm plans to announce something with this character as soon as next month.

Failing that, we still have the video game to look forward to and a surprise cameo somewhere can't be discounted given how many times we've been surprised by those on Disney+.

Keep your eyes peeled to GameFragger.com and SFFGazette.com for the latest Star Wars Jedi updates.

@dracula - I never watched Gotham long enough to really get to know his Joker(s), but after looking up at IMDB it wouldn't take that much time.

Saw he was only in 20 episodes, of which I saw five, so I may just see what's the buzz about if I ever find the time.

I don't really have interest in a Cal Kestis tv show, since the games provide enough story for him. Think a one-off appearance could be fun though.

As for the upcoming game, I kinda hope we get to see Kenobi and Maul in that as well. Especially the latter, since I can imagine he ain't happy about Cal making a ruckus on his planet.

As long as Dave Filloni is involed then there's a chance the character could make the leap to live action.

Talented actor with some good range. It would only be a plus to the live action SW universe.

It would be a huge missed opportunity of they didn't feature him in live action. One of my favorite new characters to the saga. Can't wait for the sequel

Off-topic: More about how the VFX feels about the upcoming work in the MCU's 5th and 6th Phases.

And more shows continue to be quietly removed from HBO Max, it just keeps giving more credit to the rumor that they're going to fold it with Discovery+.

Don't give him his own show, but definitely have him pop up from time to time in other shows!

Cal Kestis does know Saw Gerrera, who is also in Andor, so that might be a surprise they have in store for us. It might be a small part or a simple cameo, but I have a feeling we might see him during the large battle in Andor.

The scrapyard planet from the game looks like it'll feature somewhat in Andor, could be a connection there

“Via SSF Gazette” I get so tired of seeing that. No one used your pointless sister site to have an interview with a celebrity or to drop some major news. A separate site reported news, in this case screen rant, and you guys made an article on SSF Gazette in response. That doesn’t mean that Screen rants article is “via” SSF this obvious peddling of a sister site no one wants to use is just embarrassing!

Ok, he teased nothing. He acknowledged that there's interest (which we know there is already) and said he can't speak about it beyond that.
