J.J. Abrams Confirms That STAR WARS EPISODE VII Will Begin Production Early 2014 In The UK

Despite speculation that Star Wars Episode VII may not meet its planned 2015 release date, director J.J. Abrams has now confirmed that the movie will begin production in the UK at the start of 2014. He also refuses to reveal whether or not the movie will be based on the Expanded Universe.

"I think that the thing is so big and so massive to some many people that the key to moving forward is honoring but not revering what went before," director J.J. Abrams told reporters at today's Produced By Conference when asked about the challenges of helming the seventh instalment in the beloved franchise. He also went on to confirm that the decision to shoot in the UK had been made before he came on board the project and that the overseas shoot "drives me insane" as he would have preferred to film it in LA. "Most likely we are going to be moving to London at the end of the year for the Star Wars movie," the director added, confirming that they are still on track for a 2015 release. Abrams refused to reveal whether or not the new movies will be based on any of the Expanded Universe novels, but did say this about the recent news that creator George Lucas now plans to move on to smaller projects. "George Lucas for years has spoken for years about wanting to make those smaller more experimental films and I hope he does because I’d really like to see them."

So did anyone see that video of Will Smith saying he will appear in Episode 7? Is he pulling our legs or is he really in Episode 7? Maybe as a family member of Mace Windu....... I highly doubt he's in it but it's a cool video.

My only advice to JJ is to use unused and original Ralph Mcquarrie concept art for episode 7!

Get Joel Edgerton in this. Lets forgot about his presence in the prequel trilogy!

I think they should cast total unknowns. Unknowns with clear budding talent though.

Aside from anyone from the originals, make it an all new cast.

I have no confidence in this. Disney is [frick]ing up Star Wars so far. Now we got Abrams directing it. EA in control of Star Wars, Clone Wars canceled, Boba Fett game canceled, people talking a Boba Fett or Yoda or Han spin off.

RAPE MY CHILDHOOD WILL YOU DISNEY!!!!! I'LL KILL YOU, YOU WILL ALL DIE!!!

Well, jj adhd abrams made star trek needlessly dumb.
George lucas with his prequal jokes made star wars needlessly dumb.

Its a perverse contest to make iconic franchises stupid. Er. Stupider.

How about a wolverine who's actually a gay leprechaun?

That's about where we're at with these hacks.

It's funny because people keep saying that Disney is going to mess this up. It's almost like nobody saw the prequels (and I'm one of the few people that doesn't hate the prequels)

LEVITIKUZ - 6/8/2013, 6:42 PM
I'm glad some of you aren't writers. Luke as the new Vader? My God that sounds bad.

Also wonderdouche, if I want your opinion on Bryan Stinker or Nolan I will ask you.
LEVITIKUZ
LEVITIKUZ - 6/8/2013, 6:43 PM
Sure the prequels may not be great but yea I will go on record and say Episode 3 is [frick]ing epic. Second best Star Wars behind Empire.
ndwwrestler2
ndwwrestler2 - 6/8/2013, 6:45 PM
Agreed. But if you judge the prequels as a whole...I can't imagine it being worse. Especially with an Oscar Writer and a really good director aboard.

The only thing I want to know...Is Luke coming back? I almost don't really care about Ford atm. But we need Hammill back!

just JJ Binks :)

ndwwrestler2

MI3 was great. His Star Trek movies were really good. And for a movie that was about kids, I thought Super 8 was surprisingly good.

It seems to me people hate big names, just because they are big names. JJ movies aren't perfect but they aren't bad either.

And you could make the argument that his style fits Star Wars more than Star Trek anyway.

I still remember going an seeing SW3 and the guy in the audience saying "what! there was already a Darth Vader". Everyone around him sighing.

ndwwrestler2 - 6/8/2013, 7:07 PM
@TheAbomination I think the good thing...Is people will compare this movie to the prequels.

Even if it doesn't match Episode 5 (Best Star Wars ever), I think Most Star Wars fans will be pleased that it is better than the prequels.

Yeah that sounds like what JJ and company did to Star Trek. Thanks Disney!

I think that they might borrow elements from the novels, not entire story arcs persay, either way it should be pretty good
Timerider84
Timerider84 - 6/8/2013, 9:17 PM
I want Mark Hamill to die in part 7, but return as a force ghost in parts 8 & 9, and yes, Leia can see him. That would be so weird to see after 32years, Mark, Carrie and Harrison interacting together on screen.

Timerider84 - 6/8/2013, 9:20 PM

JJ is going to turn star wars into star trek into darkness.I dont want to be a hater, but dam did that movie bomb, in my opinion. It did have amazing special effects, the story was crap. This is how the conversation went while writing the script.."Hey JJ, you remember in wrath of khan when spock gives his life and then puts his hand against the glass that seperates him and kirk?, asks generic screenwriter. JJ says, "Oh shit, i just got an idea..what if its reversed." Thats it..CRAP. ooooooo, so frigging original.
