Star Wars: Episode X?
Arguably the biggest news to come out of Star Wars Celebration Europe over Easter weekend was the announcement that Daisy Ridley will reprise the role of Rey for a new Star Wars movie directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, and a new rumor is claiming that one of her sequel trilogy cast-mates will likely be joining her.
During this week's episode of The Hot Mic (via SFFGazette.com), John Rocha mentioned that John Boyega has "buried the hatchet" with Kathleen Kennedy, and is now in negotiations to return to the Galaxy Far, Far away as former Stormtrooper turned Resistance fighter, Finn.
Interestingly, both Rocha and Jeff Sneider also note that Rey will not be the lead in the project, and will likely be utilized in more of a Luke Skywalker/Obi-Wan Kenobi mentor capacity.
It doesn't sound like Boyega has officially signed-on just yet, but Rocha's sources are confident that he has hashed out a deal, so we may hear from the trades on this one fairly soon.
Boyega hasn't shied away from criticising his character's arc over the course of the three sequel films, but seemed to soften a little in more recent interviews, leading to speculation that he may be interested in reprising the role.
Will Rey and Finn be joined by Oscar Isaac's Poe Dameron for a true sequel trilogy reunion?
The untitled project is being written by Steven Knight, and will pick up with Rey as a Jedi Master 15 years after the events of The Rise of Skywalker. Pre-production is scheduled to get underway this August.
