John Boyega Reportedly In Talks To Return As Finn For Untitled Jedi Order STAR WARS Movie

Star Wars: Episode X?

Arguably the biggest news to come out of Star Wars Celebration Europe over Easter weekend was the announcement that Daisy Ridley will reprise the role of Rey for a new Star Wars movie directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, and a new rumor is claiming that one of her sequel trilogy cast-mates will likely be joining her.

During this week's episode of The Hot Mic (via SFFGazette.com), John Rocha mentioned that John Boyega has "buried the hatchet" with Kathleen Kennedy, and is now in negotiations to return to the Galaxy Far, Far away as former Stormtrooper turned Resistance fighter, Finn.

Interestingly, both Rocha and Jeff Sneider also note that Rey will not be the lead in the project, and will likely be utilized in more of a Luke Skywalker/Obi-Wan Kenobi mentor capacity.

It doesn't sound like Boyega has officially signed-on just yet, but Rocha's sources are confident that he has hashed out a deal, so we may hear from the trades on this one fairly soon.

Boyega hasn't shied away from criticising his character's arc over the course of the three sequel films, but seemed to soften a little in more recent interviews, leading to speculation that he may be interested in reprising the role.

Will Rey and Finn be joined by Oscar Isaac's Poe Dameron for a true sequel trilogy reunion?

The untitled project is being written by Steven Knight, and will pick up with Rey as a Jedi Master 15 years after the events of The Rise of Skywalker. Pre-production is scheduled to get underway this August.

It's almost like they looked for what most Star Wars fans dislike and decided to make a movie about it.

@Urubrodi - Whenever this movie comes out, Ep7 will already be retro, meaning, they are making this another nostalgia-bait "movie"

Please no. My man whined and complained and threw race into it.

@Supercat6376 - He was literally removed from posters, and when from being the main character to a token in the sequels.

@TheHumanSpider2 - you can’t reason with them. They don’t understand reason.

@Supercat6376 - Because they sold him one thing and then treated him like an afterthought. Hell, pretty sure they took him off the posters at one point. I’d be pissed too, especially since he went in as a fan.

@TheHumanSpider2 - and what now?

@TheHumanSpider2 - That was to pander to China who truly are racist.
You can’t agree to work for a woke company to make money that openly panders to minorities and women and then complain when they pander to other countries in order to make money.

You’re getting what you willingly signed up for and knew going in.

Would be cool to get the edit button back instead of this shitty layout.

@TyrantBossMedia - But he openly stated this, how racist they are, and now he is coming back?

@TheHumanSpider2 - True. But of course he’s a hypocrite.
Supercat6376
Supercat6376 - 4/21/2023, 9:52 AM
@TyrantBossMedia - he had a valid point in that they ruined his character after giving hints he was going to be a bad ass, but race had nothing to do with it. He lost me there.
TyrantBossMedia
TyrantBossMedia - 4/21/2023, 10:13 AM
@Supercat6376 - Oh I fully agree that they ruined his character. Finn was good in the first movie and had the opportunity to be one of the more complex characters in Star Wars, a former stormtrooper with a crisis of conscience. Disney/Lucasfilm screwed that character up entirely.

But to blame race as the issue was ridiculous, and a cop out. I agree with you.
Supercat6376
Supercat6376 - 4/21/2023, 11:53 AM
@newhire13 - I don’t disagree but it wasn’t because he was black. They crapped all of his character which they did to that entire cast. Ask mark Hamill how he feels. Oh wait he doesn’t hide it lol .
Supercat6376
Supercat6376 - 4/21/2023, 11:54 AM
@TheHumanSpider2 - I agree they did Jim dirty but his race was not the reason why. He chose to attack that mistake with a racial angle.

Yeah I thought he was done with the character,Disney were racist, you know the go to excuse when you're black.

I guess it's just about money now,I'm not coming back because of how I was treated, oh you will pay how much? Were do I sign?

@marvel72 - Hope you have that same energy for Harrison Ford and all the shit he talked about Star Wars.
marvel72
marvel72 - 4/21/2023, 9:04 AM
@newhire13 - Harrison Ford didn't claim they were being racist and how bad he was treated.

Harrison Ford hated the character and wanted him to be killed off, he got his wish and only returned for the pay check.

@Mugens - Nothing Racist about my comment. You all jumped over Ray Fisher and he's comments but not John, I wonder why?

The race card is played out by people in movies,TV shows, sports and so on.

@marvel72 - The fact that you don't seem to know what you stated is damn near the definition of a racist either means you are either extremely naive, very immature, or too far gone that anything anyone would say wouldn't make a difference.

I don't really want him to have a featuring role, but I wouldn't mind seeing Finn show up as the Grandmaster of the New Order for a scene or two.

And I like Rey not being the lead. Not because I don't like her (because I do), but I think they can build a really interesting arc with Rey in the mentor role. She's bound to be a bad one when every mentor she had (Han, Luke and Leia respectively) all left her in favor of bringing the emo kid back to the light

I'm giving this a shot, with better writing and better direction then it could turn out to be pretty good.
