Oscar winning composer Michael Giacchino has long been tipped to score Star Wars: Episode VII due to this long partnership with director J.J. Abrams but here sets the record straight on whether or not he will replace John Williams as the composer of the Star Wars franchise.

Here is what he had to say.

Honestly, the thing that I am the most excited about the new Star Wars movie is hearing new John Williams music. For me growing up, I loved it (the music of the films). When a new Star Wars movie would come out, I would be more excited for the score than I was for the film. In the same way, I look at this as, if he wants to do it, I really hope he does because I would be first in line to get that score. The guy for me is a hero and set me on a path to doing this (composing). I didn't realize it at the time but I listened to his music so much growing up and I feel that I have learned so much from it. So I would love to hear what he does with the new film. So hopefully, he will do that (movie). We'll see.

"New" John Williams music? There hasn't been any new John Willaims music since Return Of The Jedi, except for that choral theme for Darth Maul. Of course, everyone else from Luas on down phoned it in on the prequels, so why not the composer?

Giacchino has been way better the last decade or so, and I'd love for him to take over Star Wars.
