"He was very torn on the matter," Jett Lucas revealed when asked how his father felt about handing over Lucasfilm to Disney for a whopping $4 billion, before adding that George had been actively researching and writing a new movie well over a year before the sale took place. What remains now are "guidelines" for J.J. Abrams to follow...if he chooses to do so presumably! Apparently, "He's constantly talking to J.J. Abrams. Obviously J.J. was handpicked. He is there to guide, whenever, he'll help where he can. At the same time, he wants to let it go and become its new generation. Apparently, Jett is "happy with what's going to happen" in Episode VII, but would reveal no more than that! You can check out the interview in full in the video below.

George Lucas created it all..glad he has some input.
For those who don't like it..go create your own sci-fi epic film franchise.
Oh yea..YOU CAN'T.

J.J. Abrams is smart & will use what works best.

The best Star Wars stuff is were George Lucas has not overseen complete creative control and / or directed. You've only got to see Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic to know that.

The overall ideas and themes in the prequels were great, it was the execution and little things that made them what they are. J.J. Is good with the little things but he still needed a script for STID, and that was the worst part about that movie. Empire Strikes Back followed this model and it was the best one, Lucas as the idea man, good script, good execution. This movie will be great mark my words.

DON'T LISTEN JJ...DON'T DO IT!

Lol. But in all seriousness, I'm hoping Lucas can let Abrams, Arndt, and Co. do their thing. Let the younger generation of director handle the Star Wars franchise. George just needs to sit back and become a fan now.

Have you ever watched a movie, heard a song, or played a video game that you didn't like? Of course you have. Have you ever created any of those things? More than likely not.

Now I hope you see the irony in your idiotic comment.

For everyone that hates George Lucas, just keep this in mind. Without that fat bastard we would never have the original SW at all. Also we would not have the special effects we have to enjoy now days. Not defending the dude just point out some facts.

Hayden Christensen's exclusion would have made Episodes 2&3 much better. Overall, I still liked them for the most part. Hopefully, Lucas doesn't have any casting input.

Lucas created the greatest trilogy of films not based on any written work.

He deserves criticism for screwing with them afterward of course.

Thank you Lucas for creating it and good riddance for ruining it and telling your critics to stick it. Hopefully it will be good again despite your nonsense this past 20 years.

Your comments are noted & ignored.
Fact is George created it & if he wants to make them better or worse is his decision.

He recognized the fact he thinks Star Wars can live on through other creators & chose to allow Disney to move on with it..plus made a hefty profit.

You can not like something but saying the creator can't work on it makes you a crybaby.
If you can do better,do it..oh yea,YOU CAN'T.

@valeriesghost Actually it was 2 billion. The other 2 billion was given to him as Disney shares and the 2 billion he did get in cash is going to charity and education projects.

Who made up these rules that the so called creator gets to do whatever he wants and everyone should shut up about it? Historically this is not the case at all. The one who paid for the creation owns it and has final say. This is no different then Lucas. He got the right to have his way because he made business deals that ensured he kept the rights. Now he's sold the rights to Disney and no longer has the final say. And aside from that to say he created it like he made it all up in his head is factually baseless as has been pointed out time and time again. A better understanding would be that he had an idea that evolved into what would be Star Wars but not without circumstances and other creative input that should not ignored. But whatever is in the past is past and the future of Star Wars has better chance to be good again WITHOUT Lucas or at least very little Lucas.

How can you "note" something and ignore it at the same time?
CorndogBurglar

@ sameoldthing

Also, people can certainly have an opinion on whether they want Lucas working on this or not. Especially since the vast majority of people consider Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi to be the two best Star Wars movies. The two that he didn't even direct. That isn't a coincidence.

And yeah, no one here is telling Lucas he can't work on ot. They're just voicing their opinions that they don't like the idea.

Again, have you ever created a video game, movie, or song? No? Then by your logic you have no right to have a negative opinion about any of those things. Sounds pretty ridiculous, huh?

Have you ever acted in a movie? No? Then you aren't allowed to say an actor sucked in a movie.

Is any of this sinking in?

Lucas has always been a great idea man, if nothing else. I don't see anything wrong with him being an adviser or having already written what will be "guidelines" for the next trilogy.

STAR WARS was at it's best when it's a collaborative effort.
