This scan from Us Weekly provides our first official look at Jimmy Smits (Sons of Anarchy, The West Wing) as Senator Bail Organa in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Organa was introduced in the prequels, and went on to adopt and raise an infant Princess Leia who believed him to be her real father. He was killed when The Empire destroyed his home planet of Alderaan.

The quotes accompanying the image reveal that Organa's political career will have fallen on hard times by the time we catch up with him in Rogue One.

Check out the pic below along with a new Krennic poster and the latest TV spot for the movie, which contains a smattering of new footage.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is directed by Gareth Edwards and stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed, with Jiang Wen and Forest Whitaker. Kathleen Kennedy, Allison Shearmur and Simon Emanuel are producing, with John Knoll and Jason McGatlin serving as executive producers.

The movie opens in U.S. theaters on December 16, 2016.

Jimmy Smits is a great actor. I loved him in Dexter.

his age coincides with that of the character as far as the timeline. interesting.

The only thing that's kinda strange here is how little he's aged compared to someone like Obi Wan. Granted Obi Wan is in exile on a desert planet with 2 suns beating him down and Bail is not. Would've loved for Bail to have more grey in his beard and hair.

@Gmoney84 - Well that's more a case of the difference in actors. Compare Alex Guiness to a younger version of himself.

Really it's more like Obi Wan grew grey really fast(happens to a lot of folks) and he's pretty damn stressed.

@Gmoney84 - Tbf, look at Guiness back in Bridge on the River Kwai which was 20 years before he was in A New Hope. He's looking fairly grey in that already.
