Well it seems common sense has prevailed on this one. With the majority of votes (621, 23.46%) going to the third option "I'm against changes that make no sense and bring down the quality of certain scenes, but like the updates for special effects etc.". And in second place is the slightly more negative view - "I think it's a bit silly. We all know and love the movies as they are, why feel the need to alter them in any way?". Indeed.

Here are the results in full..

Thankfully only 3% of the misguided souls out there thought Star Wars sucked. For shame! Anyway, just for a giggle lets have another look at that "NOOOOOOO"..

Apparently in a different cut Lucas actually had Vader should "YEEEEEEESSSSSSS" but he thought that might confuse the audience and make it seem like he was enjoying the Emperor's torture of Luke. So thankfully it was changed at the last minute so there is definitely no confusion. Thanks George.

I am still not buying another version of Star Wars.

No one can ever take the Original Trilogy from me, so Lucas can do whatever he wants.
Still have the original VHS copies, and those have no re-dos, added FX, or "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!"'s, so I can always just watch those.

he should leave the original trilogy alone they're near perfection.the real challenge for lucas is to make the prequels as good as episodes 4-6,no matter how advance cgi has gotten over the years that is near on impossible.

He should've changed the "NNNNNOOOOOO!" from Revenge of the Sith, I almost cracked up hearing Vader say that for the first time lol

Lucas-
"You know we made it so that the Ewoks blink, but what about Vader? Why doesn't he blink? We need to fix that!"

That is where all of this is headed. Next thing you know Vader will blink, wink and smile so that little kids will like him more.

I think if he's gonna tweak it here and there, He should add extra Lightsaber Fights with VADER hacking up some Rebels or taking down a whole Rebel battalion on his own with just his lightsaber. Instead of telling us how Powerful Vader is destined to be; actually SHOW US what a Ruthless Bad@SS he REALLY IS! :P

With all the work he's putting into these he could make a new Star Wars movie. It doesn't have to be related to the other films, but maybe a stand alone within the universe.

With all of these changes they should take Hayden Christiansen out of the movie and replace him with someone better using computer. The whole No scene wasn't so bad if it wasn't for the second No he yelled that made it too cheesy but the first one was a good add.

This is a guy who tapped out creatively with his first run of "Star Wars" pictures. He keeps tinkering to make sure the public literally buys in again.

Nothing he has done previously to the original films has improved them in terms of story, dialogue, etc.
Trying to soften Han up in the Greedo scene is so ridiculous...hmmm...like the gun scene in "E.T." Totally stupid!

Add to that, every time they re-release "Blade Runner" which is probably the best sci-fi movies of the 1980's, there's no tangible/visual/story-telling improvement.

Why don't these Hollywood types leave well enough alone?!

sbdc1939 - 9/10/2011, 3:03 PM
honestly if he doesnt update the movies no one "new" will watch star wars because the first 3 were done like 30 years after the last 3. SO watching the Phantom menace and the other two kinda kills watching a new hope, empire and jedi witch are after the movies with good graphics.

The main issue is not that Lucas changes stuff, but that he does not offer every version. It is as simple as that. Put Originals, VHS Special Editions, DVD Special Editions and the new version all on the blu-ray, all with polished picture and in some parts effects (the swords! they sucked on DVD) and of course improved sound and just make it so that depending on which version you choose certain scenes are included or not, that way you could fit them all on one disc - BAM, EVERYONE wins. It's like the 5-cut-Blade Runner collection. It's not about what Lucas does, but about giving the fans the option to choose.
