Lucasfilm is looking to expand its Star Wars video game offerings in a big way over the next few years, and the hope is that we'll finally get a first look at the Jedi: Fallen Order sequel at Star Wars Celebration next month. However, a new rumour shared by industry insider Jeff Grubb suggests the title will be released exclusively on PC and next-gen consoles, the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
That means it wouldn't be available on the PS4 and Xbox One, which is likely to disappoint those who have been unable to get their hands on a newer generation console since they launched.
Talking of news that could frustrate gamers, insider Skullzi believes Xbox users can look forward to a huge Star Wars exclusive based on The Mandalorian. Rumours of a game tied to the hit Disney+ series surfaced last year, but this is the first major update we've had since then.
Apparently, it will be developed by the team behind The Elder Scrolls Online, Zenimax Online, and is set to be an MMORPG. There's always a chance that, if this game is in the works, it will be available on the PS5 as well because Star Wars is a big enough IP that console exclusives are somewhat unlikely. Then again, the Knights of the Old Republic remake from Aspyr is said to be a PlayStation-exclusive!
We'll have to wait and see what happens, but it's clear that the next few years will be an exciting time for fans who have been craving the chance to explore this Galaxy on consoles.
