STAR WARS: Possible Story Details For Daisy Ridley's NEW JEDI ORDER Movie Revealed In New Synopsis

We may have a plot synopsis for the upcoming Star Wars movie starring Daisy Ridley's Rey, and it sounds like it could serve as a passing of the torch from the sequels to a brand new era of storytelling...

Disney and Lucasfilm recently confirmed that 2025's Star Wars movie, believed to be the Daisy Ridley-led story about Rey Skywalker, has shifted to May 22, 2026.

Back in April, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy confirmed writer Steven Knight was going to submit his latest draft by mid-May, a deadline we know must have been delayed seeing as the WGA strike began on May 1 (and shows no clear signs of ending).

The still-untitled Star Wars project - rumoured to be titled New Jedi Order - will be directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and is set 15 years after the last events of the Skywalker Saga. In the movie, we'll reunite with Rey and follow the story of rebuilding the New Jedi Order and the powers that rise to tear it down. Damon Lindelof worked on an earlier draft and we've heard multiple reports about the project featuring one male and one female lead alongside Ridley.

While we're taking this with a pinch of sale, Production Weekly (via SFFGazette.com) has seemingly shared an early plot synopsis for the movie.

As you can see below, it says the movie "delves into Rey's courageous endeavour to restore the Jedi Order, where she assumes the role of a mentor to two promising young students - a girl and a boy. As their training progresses, it becomes evident that the girl possesses extraordinary abilities [and is] destined to emerge as the future leader."

This may well just be based on previous reports, but it's still noteworthy and may offer a better idea of where the project is taking us. Assuming it's meant as a bridge between the sequel trilogy and a new series of movies, this female lead could be the future of Star Wars storytelling.

As for the male character, is it possible he'll head down a darker route, leading to the reemergence of both the Jedi and Sith? There must always be balance in the Force, and with Palpatine dead and gone, it may be time for that religion to be reborn (and not necessarily as a force for evil).

Since we first published this story, a major update has been revealed about the synopsis and rumoured title. Be sure to click here to check that out now.

So they’re making a Rey movie where Rey mentors another Rey?

@marvel72 - the second season of Visions was basically all poorly written female protagonist. There wasn’t one character that I connected with.
