STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS Concept Art Reveals An Alternate Opening For The Movie

Some newly revealed concept art for Star Wars: The Force Awakens reveals an alternate opening sequence for the movie which would have been yet another throwback to A New Hope! Check it out...

Star Wars: The Force Awakens was well-received, but it came under fire from a lot of fans for sticking a little too closely to the blueprint laid out by A New Hope. Now, some newly revealed concept art courtesy of Christian Alzmann has shared an alternate opening for the 2015 release.

As you can see, the movie was set to kick off with the familiar sight of a Star Destroyer hovering over a planet only for us to then realise that it was being towed to the wastelands of Jakku.

This certainly would have gone a long way in establishing how different the Galaxy is decades after the events of Return of the Jedi, and a nice way of referencing the original Star Wars

Another alternate opening we know was discussed was set to feature Luke Skywalker's severed hand and lightsaber floating through outer space. That didn't make the final cut and neither did this one; instead, we were introduced to characters like Poe Dameron and Kylo Ren early on.

Check out the concept art in the gallery below:
