STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI Promotional Ad Foreshadows A Showdown Between BB-9E And BB-8

Much has been made of the new BB-9E droid astromech droid debuting in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and a new promotion ad from Verizon puts the First Order droid front-and-center. The commercial features footage of BB-9E alerting First Order troops of BB-8's presence in attempt to stop him from retrieving data and sending it to the Resistance.

At this point it's unclear if any of this footage is taken from the movie or if it was shot exclusively as part of the promo for Verizon. While these particular shots may not be used in the film, we have heard there will be a "lovely moment" between BB-8 and BB-9E in The Last Jedi that "tells that sort of parallel story of Vader and Luke," according to Neal Scanlan, head of the Star Wars creature shop. We'll have to wait until December 15 for that moment to play out on the big screen, but for now check out Verizon's latest promo spot featuring the two droids.

This isn't Verizon's first promo ad tying into The Last Jedi. Last month an advertisement once again featured BB-8, but this time kicking some butt with his good pal Poe Dameron.
