STAR WARS: UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson Compared To Jabba The Hutt In Hilarious Parliament Exchange

Star Wars once again found its way into British politics this week after Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer compared Prime Minister Boris Johnson to Jabba the Hutt. Check out the video after the jump...

We're not going to get too political here, but we do have a fun story from the UK to share with you. During a heated clash at Wednesday's Prime Minister Questions, Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer channelled the Force to direct a series of Star Wars-inspired insults at Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

Arguing about everything from the current cost of living crisis to upcoming rail strikes, Starmer - who may or may not have watched the latest episode of Obi-Wan Kenobi prior to this debate in Parliament - compared the unpopular Johnson to Jabba the Hutt!

"As for his boasting about the economy, he thinks he can perform Jedi mind tricks on the country: 'These aren’t the droids you’re looking for. No rules were broken. The economy is booming,'" he says in the video below (via SFFGazette.com). "The problem is the force just isn’t with him anymore."

"He thinks he’s Obi-Wan Kenobi," Starmer added. "Truth is he’s Jabba the Hutt."

This even drew laughs from Boris and his fellow Conservative MPs, so it's all in good fun (welcome to the weird world of UK politics). It's rare we get a Star Wars reference in the Houses of Parliament, though, and Starmer certainly isn't too far off base with what he's saying here!

After a series of recent scandals involving Johnson's actions during the COVID-19 crisis, Starmer is currently a likely candidate to become the next UK Prime Minister. There's still some time to go before another election takes place, but if the Labour leader continues to come out with zingers like this one (he also mentioned Love Island), something tells us he'll probably end up with the geek vote when that does eventually take place.

@toylled -
Not particularly, in fact the comparison emphasizes how little they are focused on politics. The UK is in a severe financial, economic crisis with hyperinflation and a very high risk of complete collapse and they are sitting down watching Disney+ shows to try and make memes to become trendy for elections or political support rather than doing anything to help.

Not fair really. A giant slug monster would still be an improvement on any conservative government

I'm not one to normally flame Josh, but WTF? Can we please not make this website political? We really don't need to bring Bo Jo the clown into these articles.

Wilding can you please not bring politics here.

The last thing I want to see coming on this site is our idiot 'leader'.

Jabba is fine.

How is there an article on this, but not on the Wonder Man or Jon Snow news???

@JoshWilding - Missed the Wonder Man article, my bad on that. And I’m sorry, but I refuse to use sffgazette. There wasn’t really a need for another site, it’s just inconvenient for users. You guys still post Star Wars stuff here and cite sffgazette as the source. Is there a reason why you guys chose to branch off?

Unlike others, I don't care if this is getting too political or something.

This was pretty funny, and that's it

Call it nerd bias but this might be the first time I've actually liked Starmer as leader of the opposition 😂
